Never heard say Spo said this to Whiteside.
To be fair, Spo would have had a lot worse to say about a 21 year old WhitesideWe got him after he was humbled a bit from getting bounced out of the league and playing overseas
Yeah, but Whiteside never got called out in the media by Spo IRRC.
They probably just fed up at this point and learned their lessons from the past.

I don’t realistically foresee it, but Powell/Herro/Bron/Jovic/Bam would be an interesting combination, skill-wise.

Strange to me Zo praised Ware's work ethic and now Spo is calling him out.

Perhaps. Ideally this is also where you’d like to see a leader on the team (not UD or an assistant coach) intervene and show Ware the ropes, it shouldnt have to come down to Spo calling him out in the media but now that it has, the guy has to take ownership to be better but leaders on the team should see it as their duty as well to get in his ear.

Spo's comments suggest he's invested in ware's development - If they were thinking about movinh him in a trade he would've kept his mouth shut.

Spo putting young players in his dog house for whatever reason. Why do we even bother with draft picks I wonder?!

Re: 2025 Offseason Thread Vol.5
If i had to guess, the front office is as split as congress.
Spo wanted Durant here. But, the front office didnt want to include Ware in the deal.
So ware must be this other world, godly talent that you cant trade away. And if that is the case, Spo wants those results now.
When you got 3 untouchables like Ware, Jovic, Herro, that you cant trade for Lebron, Durant or any star… thats a lot of godly talent…. We should win 60 games and breeze through the playoffs.
So spo is right in wanting to see the results right now..
Here is the reality on what is going to happen, no other extensions or contracts will get offered or signed till the 2026 offseason, the Arison family is giving this core the 25-26 season, they have a bunch of expirings leaving the Heat after the season, and if this group of godly players dont produce a deep playoff run, theyre going to blow it up, and not just blow up the roster, they may do massive front office overhauls.
The Heat are setup for a rebranding after this season.

Re: 2025 Offseason Thread Vol.5
I posted this on the GB around offers for Giannis. Seeing as I've done the math:
Miami could probably give Milwaukee all of this:
C - Kel'el Ware
PF - Nikola Jovic
SF - Jaime Jaquez Jr / Andrew Wiggins
SG - Tyler Herro
PG - Kasparas Jakucionis / Terry Rozier
$102,275,423
Plus 2026 pick swap, 2029 pick unprotected, 2030 pick swap, 2031 pick unprotected (or something like that, we owe Charlotte a lotto protected 27 then 28 unprotected, so probably conditions stemming from that).
Remember Tyler Herro is a Milwaukee born player. Rozier is expiring fodder, teams will possibly offer youth and/or picks for Wiggins.
To take back Giannis Antetokounmpo, Myles Turner and Kyle Kuzma at $105,333,750
OR
Giannis Antetokounmpo, Myles Turner, Bobby Portis and Kevin Porter Jr at $101,502,899
Would leave the Heat with:
C - Myles Turner / Bobby Portis
PF - Bam Adebayo / Simone Fontecchio / Keshad Johnson
SF - Giannis Antetokounmpo / Haywood Highsmith
SG - Norman Powell / Pelle Larsson
PG - Davion Mitchell / Dru Smith
And that is before you see that team probably still has the MLE (Bradley Beal) and vet min (Damian Lillard), both who had the Heat as their #1 destination when were on the block.

Any shot at a Giannis trade would have been before they waved and paid off Dame. That killed any dream. Also that offer is just flat out bad and would get destroyed in a bidding war which would happen. The only two players of any real value in the trade are Herro and Ware unfortunately.

That is chilling….
We love to praise the powers that be for how they keep finding guys in the draft/ufa… but damn….the Heat approach appears to be awesome if you throw a net into the undrafted pool and see who embraces the grind…. Less so if you aim for the talent you want and are hoping they have the mental approach to be a Miami Heat player.
What sucks is the talent is clearly there if only Ware would choose to be great….
Folks mature at different rates. We just have to hope he does sooner, rather than later.

I just woke up. Im bored so I'll take the bait.
Let's say we do it. We trade Herro and another young guy for Lebron. We dont win a ring. Lebron retires in a year. What's the next step? We basically just traded an asset for a 1-2 year rental. Have neither the young guys or Bron on the team anymore. Cap space but no star to sign since they don't hit FA anymore. So what's the next step Vertical?
Also who was the other star that we didn't offer up our young talent for?!?!? Please provide proof. A link. A YouTube video. A quote. Anything from a credible source please!!

I agree. I think Spo seeing the potential in Ware but really just wants him to wake up.

I don’t know if that is the case but if it is then Spo is the problem and he needs to go. Heat can’t keep chasing mediocrity because he can’t improve as a coach and develop young players with patience and let them go through their growing pains. He asks others to sacrifice but is he willing to sacrifice some meaningless wins to do what is best for the team? I feel I’ve seen this too many times with him.
This team doesn’t need a coach that is only thinking of now rather than the future. Even Riley as coach knew when it was time to blow it up and did so twice after Zo and after Shaq. But he gives Spo leeway to coach as he sees fit. We’ve seen over the years it is at odds with how the team is built.
He’s been around a long time and is probably too old and stubborn to go through with the best process for this. He might be better off like Doc Rivers now and jump from team to team to coach veteran playoff teams.
