Re: OT: Djoker Becomes Undisputed GOAT
Sinner stepped up big & removed a lot of doubt of whether he’s on Alcaraz level. It’s a healthy rivalry and hopefully many epic matches to come

The New York Times reported that Sinner "twice tested positive for clostebol, a banned anabolic steroid, in March" of 2024.
The Times noted that the ITIA had found Sinner “bore no fault or negligence for those positive tests.”

Sinner was one foot out of the tournament before Dimitrov got injured, but then won convincingly until the final and beat the favorite there. Good job.

It sounds like Sinner was framed because his last name sounds like he would be guilty.
Kids played football, drove cars, went to school, celebrated life; while soldiers, heroes, their brothers struggled to find their way home from war; and young boys watched and grew wiser in their dreams.

Even before today Sinner was the actual world #1, had won 3 of the previous 6 slams, and lost the French Open to Carlos in a 5th set tiebreak in one of the craziest matches in tennis history.
He’s now beaten Alcaraz on arguably Alcaraz’ best surface, won 4 of the last 7 slams, and his hold on world #1 is even stronger. And we’re now entering the HC part of the season, Sinner’s best surface.
he will likely lose the #1 in a few month, though

so much nonsense that the judges believed him and found no fault and negligence. Even WADA never accused him voluntarily take that substance, they were just contesting the no negligence part.
if you actually you knew something about tennis you would know that dopong for performance is basically impossible. Not cycling on known substances, at least.

My take is that Alcaraz at his best has a clear advantage in matchup vs Sinner, at least on clay and what grass has become.
But Sinner is more reliable, hence he can lose if he's not playing at his best.

Is that why Halep was banned 4 years for doping? Or why Sharapova was banned 2 years?
The only reason Sinner got 3 months is because the ATP finally got their post-big 3 rivalry and they weren't about to destroy their ratings with a PED ban.
I don't really care that he doped as I'm sure lots of players do it. The inconsistent application of penalties isn't a good look though.

I don't think Carlos has a clear advantage at all. Their matches are very close. I think they'll continue to beat up on one another as long as their bodies hold up.

I'm pretty sure it's doping for recovery...not performance.

you asking these questions show me that you don't really know what happened in all those cases and why they are different.
The key thing is that players must figure out how a substance entered their body. Sinner (and Swiatek) provided a solution accepted but the authorities, on a timely manner, with the supportimg evidence. Halep and Sharapova didn't.
Moreover, initially Halep considered guilty to do it on purpose (that's where the 4 years are coming from), but lately the sentence was changed, after her appeal.
Anyway, it's obvious that basically 99% of cases sanctioned by WADA come from some form of contamination. With the frequency of random tests players must perform and the sensitivity of those exams you just can't cycle something out.
Unless you have a new substance that tests don't see, of course. But those are not the cases that you see discussed, obviously.

Carlitos is the only one who can defend vs Sinner's pace until he misses or he slows down, and he has a wider skillset. Everyone else is letting Sinner step forward.

Dopers have been running the sport for decades. Sinner is just another in a long line of them.

Sinner has a better serve, better return, better backhand (probably best in the game), and not very error prone. Carlos is the much flashier player for sure, but Sinner should be winning more slams than Carlos next year as well barring injury.

Nadal is only a year older than Novak. Fed is six years older than Novak. Their peaks all overlapped and they all beat one another during that time.

I don’t recall Nadal being injured in 2011. When Novak wiped him off the tennis court that year. How finals did Nadal lose to Novak that year? Also if we are talking about injuries and Covid. Novak would have more tittles than Nadal by far if both were completely healthy.
Djoko's biggest strength is his consistent health and maintenance - the Lebron of tennis.
I accept that people give him his status for being the GOAT regarding to that longevity.
He will never be MJ though

News flash Novak suffered injuries that impacted him aswell. Missing time etc. Also not Nadal nor Roger matched the season Novak had in 2011. Greatest peak.

Best peak is Nadal. Plus he is most dominant on his best surface. He had GOAT peak overall.

He didn’t come near Novak’s dominance in 2011. 70 - 6 across multiple surfaces not just one. Nadal didn’t reach that peak.
