very unusual prospect.
what is even a comparable type of player? Rob Williams? Royce White? Trevion Williams? less-defense Dennis Rodman?

Trevion williams but in better shape, taller..much better defender.

Oso Ighodaro, but taller, stronger, better rebounder, better rim protector, tougher..

Not everyone needs a player comp. Most players are pretty unique.

Oso Ighodaro would be a great comp if Amari is that good.

Bassey reminds me a lot of Rob Williams.

Imagine being 19 years old playing only half the previous game and already getting a day off???? :banghead:

Dallas shut down Cooper Flagg, who is even younger. Gonzalez has just finished the Spanish league season, so we're grateful that he'll play a couple SL games.

So we're going to compare Cooper Flagg and his extremely heavy minutes he's expected to get with a player who may not even play half of his minutes??

It's got nothing to do with the amount of mins they're expected to get next season, which doesn't even start for like 3 more months.

It's about a 19 yr old kid who is a big investment since we used a 1st rounder on him and his pro season in Europe literally *just* ended (a season he played in 68 games which is like double the games that college guys play) so he hasn't had a break yet. Went right from playing EuroLeague games to fly across the world, jet lagged and practices 5 straight days with our SL team..

We want to protector our investment so he doesn't' get burnt out and doesn't get injured.

Dudes are tearing their achilles every other day because they play basketball too much..dudes never get a break, games after games, no days off, dudes play 2-3 games in a day when they're kids playing AAU ball. Now we're asking them to play back to backs in summer league when they aren;t yet used to playing back to backs at this level yet..
Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Where did Walsh's reputation as a great defender come from?

I would hope that’s true with a vet and rookie 2nd round pick.

A vet that’s trying to cling on in the league isn’t a very high bar. Especially given the Celtics current front court depth

Stop the mess. He may be trying to hang on, but not in sl!! This isn’t even close to what the NBA is and he’s had plenty more minutes in real games than amari has never seen. Amari may be a bust* but what does that comparison even mean at this point? Nothing.

I’m not even arguing against Bassey, I’m arguing your logic.

Walsh has a $200K Partial Guarantee.
I think that this may be his last hurrah.

Walsh is also on his 3rd Summer. (Currently has 4 Fouls.)
Scheierman is only on his 2nd Summer League.

Walsh is still extremely limited. Scheierman still can’t shoot. Williams is soft, Schluga a JAG out there. Hugo and Bassey the only two on the team that actually look like NBA players early on

I would bet anything that any other bigs available at 46 wanted a regular deal and not a 2way deal.
