Those same players will probably improve. Whether its a small improvement or a big one, a few of them will be better. Particularly, JKW, Shead, and Gradey.

And IF the starting unit remains healthy, they’ll win more games just with health lol

And we also replaced Brown, Olynik and ORob with Ingram and Mamu.

This is stupid logic:

The contract they have given Quickley has been a failure, as he only played 33 games last season for Toronto.

Has it been a success?

If you use logic.

He had a ton of injuries and we then tanked and he pretty much sat out. Let's see what he can do in a full season and then judge the contract then.

Oh sure. Great. And I agree. And the Raptors are definitely not worse than last year. That’s not even close to true.

But, that IQ contract has so far been a failure by any objective metric. Could it become good in the future? Well it might. But even that is uncertain. So the success of that contract is tenuous at best and suffers from diminishing returns unless the player can actually outperform the back half of the contract considering he underperformed the first part.

Doesn’t mean the Raptors got worse though.

If you can't envision the future (with tweaks along the way), you'll be in for a pleasant surprise.

I would personally start CMB (in place of RJ's starting spot), and I do see CMB and Jakob being an effective, "non-shooting" duo.

At this stage it seems these guys are all just repeating the same take the initial guy had. What is this salary issue when every team operates at or above the tax? The Raptors won’t be in financial trouble. They have ways to avoid the tax.

Seems like a very lazy analysis

This reads like he wanted to make a '5 teams to get worse' headline, and ran out of teams to name.

How is Boston not on the list?

I’m honestly not sure why this guy is saying we should start building around Barnes which is what the **** we’ve been doing the whole time… also I’m not sure why some people still think Barnes is the centerpiece to build around when it’s clear he’s not quite the guy we expected him to be. It’s like these people write **** without even having a full understanding of what’s going on with the team. I swear he hasn’t watched a single raptors game and knows nothing about the raptors beyond the names and contracts.

Not sure how we got worse. Added BI and CMB plus we should gain against some of the man games lost last year to injuries/ethical/unethical tanking.

Not to mention a ton of young players with upward trajectories.

this team has to make the playoffs next year, all things considered with the expensive contracts and relatively health coming into this season.

As others have said most of these writers don’t watch the Raptors. They catch a few highlights here and there, look at the contracts and then make some ill-informed guesses. They have no clue of the dynamics of the team. This team will easily outperform last year’s record at a minimum, then all of a sudden you’ll see a flood of articles about the Raptors being a ‘surprise team’.

Unless you view it from the one big move the ownership made in firing Masai, then yes, I would say they are worse off after that summer move.

I posted a youtuber's opinion on the team the other day where he essentially admitted he doesn't know much about the roster. It's just another example of these guys giving low effort in their NBA analysis. My advice, stop giving them attention.

Its gotta be rage bait atp. Im not sure how you could logically justify a team that was injured the whole year and clearly tanking. Now adding Brandom Ingram to be worse

Toronto is a team analysts love to hate on. Yes it is an expensive experiment but I am willing to see this out, especially with the identity we have forged this past year.

It feels good to see the team being overlooked. I love it when other teams hate to even face us because the offense gets so hard with our stifling defense.

Being this annoying team that won't go away is our schtick and it works for us. That's why we tend to draft the overlooked dudes looked CMB and Barnes and just keep adding to it. Us against the world.

Too much pocket watching when it comes to the Raptors....yes the starting lineup is expensive but it's also full of high level players (that just need to stay healthy), the bench depth is also the best it's been in a long time. Most of the losing seasons have had very poor bench depth which made losing more likely in the regular season.

A large part of Raptors most successful regular seasons were having a deep bench....when the bench came in and you knew they could outplay the starters.

He’s heading into year 2 of his contract.
