Who's the 5th Starter?
With Giddey, Coby, Matas, and Vooch all locked in as starters, I was wondering who everyone thinks should be the 5th starter.
Kevin Huerter: Was the starter for the last 15 games of the year, averaging 15/4/4 on 49/39/75. He’s a knockdown shooter who can space the floor for Giddey and Vooch. Doesn’t need the ball much and knows how to move without it. Defense is just okay, but the offense fits cleanly.
Patrick Williams: Coming off his worse season to day but If he ever puts it all together, he’s the perfect fit — strong defender, can shoot, and switch everything. Maybe he comes in this season in shape and ready to earn that contract.
Ayo Dosunmu: Brings POA defense, can hit open shots now, and already knows how to play with the core guys. He’s low-maintenance and brings toughness. I don't love the idea of playing 2 guards with Giddey, feels like that takes away a lot of his size advantage.
Noa Essengue: He’s close to 7 feet tall, athletic, and can defend. Might be further along as a shooter than originally thought. If the Bulls want to go young and bet on upside, he brings energy and could cover a lot defensively. Might be the best long term move since getting him a lot minutes will help his development as well as the Bulls lottery odds.
Dalen Terry: Feels like this is a sink or swim season for Dalen. Has shown really good improvement on his shot and will always be a hustle guy who brings defense, length, and energy. If he continues to improve his handle and three point shot might be a good fit with the other starters.
Julian Phillips: Another low usage wing who bring defense, energy, and size. Similar to Dalen, needs to turn into a plus shooter to even be considered as a starter.
Issac Okoro: Forgot about him initially, probably the best defender out of the group. Has good 3 point efficiency but can be very streaky and doesn't provide a ton of volume so spacing may be an issue.
Jalen Smith: Big, physical, can rebound and hit a three — fits nicely as a stretch four next to Vooch. He brings size this lineup might lack otherwise. Not flashy, but solid and steady.
Zach Collins: Doubt it but would bring a lot of size without compromising floor spacing. Probably best as the back up center.

Either Huerter, Ayo, or Okoro.

Re: Who's the 5th Starter?
Okoro is the clear most likely answer IMO. We literally just traded arguably our best player for him despite Ball being on a good contract. That wasn't for **** and giggles IMO.

I also definitely question whether Vuc is still locked in as a starter. We're actively trying to trade him, and it's not because we think he's valuable to get what we want.
Personally I'd go Smith and Okoro.
I think Billy is maybe more likely to go Collins and Okoro.

You are also missing Jones. He's our backup PG, but he might be our best POA defender. That said, to me it's Okoro...although I'd root for Smith starting at the 4 if we are still trotting out that POS Vuc.

Re: Who's the 5th Starter?
My guess is Okoro for defense...you have enough offense with the other 4 but little to almost no defense. I see the following:
Giddey/Coby/Okoro/Matas/Vuc
Jones/Ayo/Huerter/Williams/Smith
Carter/Terry/Phillips/Esengue/Collins
Maybe switching the Vuc/Collins/Smith rotation up and moving Noa to the second unit after a "hopeful" deadline deal

Re: Who's the 5th Starter?
Hilarious that the obvious choice isn't up there.
I couldn't vote bc I think its Okoro.
Giddey / Jones / Carter
Coby / Huerter
Okoro / Ayo / Terry / Phillips
Matas / PWill/ Essengue
Vuc / Collins / Smith
Okoro, Huerter, PWill, Ayo, Jones will all get the opportunity to compete for that spot.

Re: Who's the 5th Starter?
Gotta be okoro to balance the bench. If not him would be ayo.
Ideally Noa but he's a year or two away.
Giddey/Coby/okoro/buz/Vuc
Bench
Jones/ayo - guards
huerter/pwill/Noa - wings
Smith/Collins - center
I wish we could move on from Vuc

Re: Who's the 5th Starter?
Okoro, Ayo, or Huerter feel like the choice if you're trying to win 40 games again.
Essengue is the choice if you're focused on player development and improving your lottery odds.

Re: Who's the 5th Starter?
Very likely Okoro! We need that bigger defense impact in starting lineup, just Matas isnt enough.

I.O or Ayo, but I voted Issac Okoro.
Giddey/Jones
White/Ayo
Okoro/Huerter
Matas/Williams
Vucevic/Collins
How will Noa Essengue find rotation minutes next season?

Re: Who's the 5th Starter?
Will be: Huerter
Should be: Okoro
But if we made lineups based on who should start, Vuc shouldn't start either and instead be crushing bench lineups.

Re: Who's the 5th Starter?
I picked Huerter, would like to get through camp and have it be Patrick with the corner restraints removed.
The bench is never going to be 5 in 5 out, it will be staggered as always so Jones, Dosunmu, Collins, Huerter and Okoro play with some of the starters.
I still see a Vucevic trade, maybe as late as breaking camp, shaking things up.

Okoro makes sense, though I voted Huerter just because of the chemistry that lineup developed down the stretch and wanting to see if more can come from it.
