The Bucks desperately needed Beal. They still have the worst guard situation in the league

I doubt it...I've been off Beal for years just because he brings a weird energy. But, he's making half as much as Luke Kornet lol. I doubt you'll be upset you gave Bradley Beal 5.5M a year.

If you think Powell struggled in the playoffs, take a look at the players they acquired the last time they were in the playoffs.

Lopez was unplayable in postseason last year. Hawks traded away Collins because he stunk in postseason.

lol. It’s a 1+1 deal that still leaves them max space. Given they have already decided to be a 50 win treadmill it’s literally zero risk to the Clippers

What does max space mean? This leaves the Clippers about $3.5M under their 1st Apron hard-cap with 13 players.

Did they buy him out or stretch him? If it’s a buyout I don’t think it helps with the 2nd apron or tax issues.

Based on what I read its going to save them $175 million in tax penalties annually because they're out of the second apron. Someone might want to vet that information though, I'm no expert on cap space.

I saw something similar and that's great. My fear now is that Ishbia gets some other brain twitch that has him overpay someone else that isn't going to fit the time line or in general just because he can. Either that or we trade away players for others who aren't any better than those being sent out.

It's both a good time and scary time for us Suns fans. This is a move we've looked forward to being made and also one that we've silently dreaded for fear of the unknown and the impatience of Ishbia.

Clips remind me of those early 2000s Blazers teams. Just signing a bunch of talented players (even if they are on the decline). They should be a good regular season team, but not sure they hold up in the playoffs.

Sham was the first to break the news. Alas, the topic starter didn't immortalize it in the name of the thread. RealGM will never be the same

I mean they can clear max cap in 2026+ 2027 summers. Not today

I still think it's wild the Suns are just paying him to go away after investing so much just a season ago.

This will probably work out to be a beneficial move from both sides. And it was necessary for both the Suns and Beal to grow beyond what was thought to be a great fit but one which ended up as a disaster.

I'll never be able to believe in the Clippers because I can never believe Kawhi can ever be healthy for a season again like he was during the 2019 Raptors run.

He was healthy last season?

No. He missed 40 something games. They win 50 in spite of that.

Healthy as in he finished the season lol

I was talking about the Suns in this instance, not the Clippers. Effectively waiving/stretching puts a huge amount of dead money on our books for the next FIVE years. I should have made that more clear than leaving it as relatively ambiguous.

They get out of the 2nd apron and avoid an absurd amount of tax penalties. It's the right move from a pure financial perspective.

Or they can just double-down and flip Allen/Brooks/O’neale plus picks for more expensive washed up vets LOL

If the Clippers win 55+ next year, give Harden or Zubac an MVP vote. Dead serious. Zubac should have his first All-star year next year.
