No, but we can infer from job experience and draft history. Raptors best drafting years were 2016 and 2017, BEFORE Bobby was named GM.
That's really tough and obviously has a ton of other factors (Wasnt' that when Weltman left?). Also how many top picks / chances did we get after that stretch?
The inference has a ton of room for mistake.
Weltman was hired by the Magic a month before the 2017 draft.
Of course we're all working/opining/arguing from incomplete information. But there is ZERO reason to infer that Bobby is responsible for drafting CMB. More likely he was the guy trying to trade #9 + RJ for ... Derrick White. Or trade RJ for anything that brings us under the tax threshold. Who knows? But we can infer.
Inference is a powerful tool. It's certainly enough to convict in a court of law. Here's an example: Raptors finished the season with the second highest winning percentage in the NBA three seasons in a row. 2018-2019-2020. Before, during and after Kawhi. We know who was the top scorer in each of those seasons, but the common element was - Kyle F'N Lowry. So why not infer that Kyle was the most important player in team history?
And when that table was floating around a few years back showing that the Raptors were getting the most value from their trade picks of any team, who was the common element over those seasons? The complaint two years ago was that Masai wasn't involved enough in team operations. So he appeared to rededicate himself, and we a great drafts in 2024 and 2025. Sure it's an inference, but what alternative explanation is more likely?
