Heineman is the man.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Bottom of the order has been great but can we get Vladdy to fix his attack angle? He has a worse bat path than Steven Kwan lmao

No. No, we can’t. He doesn’t even understand English.
Is anybody here a marine biologist?

Idk if this team is legit enough to splurge at the deadline or not. Feels like the offensive approach is solid, but with the star players not really playing well, how much can we continue to rely on the role players keeping this up and this team actually going against contenders in the playoffs? Would suck for the front office to give up a Nimmala or Yeasavsge for a stretch run piece only for this team to be exposed down the line.

Only way I am giving up either Nirmala or Yesavage is for a legit front line starter who has proven himself in the big leagues, and who also has multiple years of control left.
No way I would trade either guys for simply rentals, but Atkins and Shapiro are desperate guys with their contracts coming to an end. Desperate men do desperate things. So, unfortunately I can see them trading both guys before the deadline for stretch run pieces.

Yeah wouldn’t give either one up for a rental. I’d want a controllable good player in return.

I'm giving Vladdy a deadline to improve. If not he's going to have to go with Bo at the trade deadline

And give up the #1 seed ? You must be joking...they both aren't performing to their level but they are taking pressure off the others which allows them to do what they do. However if they want to go somewhere in the playoffs they're going to need Vladdy to wake up at some point.

Nobody is going to absorb a 500 million contract over 14 years that is owed to Vlad, if Vlad is not performing at an elite level. He also has a full No Trade Clause. This organization is stuck with him.

No one is trading for Bo either. I mean they will, but we won't get anything of value back for a couple months of Bo. So might as well keep him and use him since it's not like we have better options.

What kinda contract would Vlad have gotten? We could've had him for 350 probably lmao

He has no trade value whatsoever (and in actuality, negative trade value) so there wouldn’t be much point to that

Less.
He’d have been paid for the player he’s been most of his career instead of the aberration 2021 and 2024 seasons.

A desperate team would have given Vlad a 10 year deal, around 250 to 275 million guaranteed. With incentives, maybe around 300 million over 10 years. Jays could have signed him for 200 million less. Otherwise, Jays could have saved that money and made a run at Kyle Tucker next year, and traded Vlad last off-season which I had hoped for and mentioned several times. Last off-season, you could have gotten a major haul based on the 2024 season Vlad, had with elite prospects and major league talent that would have set this organization up greatly in the years ahead.
Now, you are stuck for 14 years with the worst contract in all of pro sports, given to a Singles Hitter whose power has disappeared. Who looks like the 2023 version of himself. Cal Raleigh this past March, signed a 6 year extension with Seattle worth 105 million (17.5 million a year average). Vlad is making double of what Cal Raleigh is making right now, with 8 more years on top of that guaranteed over the MLB Home Run Leader Cal Raleigh. What a tremendous contract for Seattle, and an Albatross for the Jays.
