What reason do we have to believe that might happen?
3 years since being drafted and did literally nothing at the NBA level. Odds are pretty low of him making it in the league. He's probably better off going to play overseas.
This clearly sailed over your head. My point is we cut a lot of guys in the last several years who end up pitted against us later. Strus, Yabs, Wagner, Nesmith. We've seen it play out many times before.
I'm aware. Nothing sailed over my head.
But I see no correlation between those guys and JD, other than he's a former Celtic.
I mean, we could say the same thing about Nik Stauskus, Juwon Morgan, Jabari Parker, Juancho Hernangomez, Semi Ojeleye, Carsen Edwards, Tremont Waters, Tacko Fall, Dennis Schroder, Malcolm Brogdon, Jaden Springer, Lamar Stevens, Noah Vonleh, Dalano Banton, Svi Mykhailiuk, Drew Peterson, etc.
The ones I mentioned gave us more resistance when we faced them again, than the ones you name here. My guess is JD ends up on your list not mine, but you never know.

Just saw he signed with rockets…not sure if it’s a full contract or camp contract.

looks like he's gonna be down by the beach/border in Edinburg, TX where the RGV Vipers play... Hope he likes Mexican food because border cuisine is the closest to polar opposite of Portland ME food you are gonna find in the US...

Seems like the perfect situation for him really. Has to be some similarities in systems and a very competitive team that has a clear depth need at his position.

I could be wrong but I don't think Ime has ever given meaningful NBA mins to a 2-way player, between his 1 season in BOS and his 2 now as HC in houston.
Heading into last season I was optimistic that Jack McVeigh (sharpshooting wing from Australia) could emerge as one of the better 2-way contract guys in the league. Especially since he was a shooter..and Houston needed shooting. But Ime didn't play him. Like, at all..
Houston is pretty well set at PG, with Amen, Sheppard, VanVleet and Holiday.
I figure JD will pretty much only be getting mins in the G league. It'll be tough for him to crack that rotation.
Good luck to him, but I think he was better off going overseas. Seems like he just took the first NBA deal he could get though, wanting to stay in the league to keep that NBA dream alive..

Agreed, I expected much more from someone picked #53 who received so many minutes.

Can someone picked in the second round ever be considered a bust? He was not a great college player so he is even lucky he made it in the NBA nevermind lasting as long as he did.

If he lasts the year he'll have over $2M in earnings by 22 y.o. so not bad.

The NBA should pay them more, for years earned on Two-Ways. Just like the NBA.
