The way they defended as an 11 man unit reminded me so much of that performance in Porto against Manchester City.

Unbelievable spirit from this group. PSG were tactically, physically and psychologically defeated today.

Chelsea fans across the globe should feel extremely proud.

You couldn't see João Pedro's run from the original broadcast camera.

> Hard scans Pedro, which sets up Vitinha until the very last action, can't commit either way
> Nearly takes his ACL with the fake pass which leaves him in acres of space
> Fake shot
> Takes Beraldo completely out of the play + knee nearly does a 360° spin
> Freezes Dollarumma
> Slots it into the bottom corner

One of the most nuanced goals I've ever seen. Cole Palmer is a genius.

Also finally got to see how our midfield stacked up against what was being heralded as the best young core of this generation.

Even without Lavia, Caicedo ate Neves and Vitinha up with a fork & knife.

Would be exciting to wrap these up.

Technical and mental levels rising with every transfer.

Just last season under Pochettino we were lining up with 6'8 375lb Axel Disasi as a traditional right back and Levi Colwill as a left back. The team was BUILT AROUND Conor Gallagher, bless his heart but his stand-out attributes are every and anything WITHOUT the football.

I was seeing Ben Chilwell at left wing in big games. If not Ben Chilwell it was washed Raheem Sterling stealing money from my club and disrespecting the badge.

There's been a massive elevation in not only squad talent but competitiveness for spot and the manager, Sir Enzo Maresca OBE, is the final infinity stone central to the entire operation.

Reports of Saudi/Ronaldo interested in signing Cucurella, untouchable asset for me. Would reject a bid of £100 million.

Outside of the fact that he's an absolute warrior & one of the very best in world football in his position, he's a culture mover. Highly respected and adored individual at the club that has bonded a youthful squad together. Everything about his story has made him one of my favourite footballers ever.

Jorrel Hato is here!

Image

Won't pretend to have watched him extensively but from what I have seen, he seems like another talent geared towards what we've been building. Positionally versatile and physically/technically/mentally top. Dutch/Ajax heritage, captain since 17.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Maresca deploy him in a multitude of ways, LB, LCB, inverted LB into midfield.

If there's one attacker that leaves this summer with the highest odds of exploding at another club, and I hate the perpetual reference to the Emanalo golden generation because they hardly played under win now managers (unlike Madueke and Jackson who've pumped thousands of first team minutes into the shirt), it'd probably be him.

Read on Twitter

If he never improves from today he's an elite link-up striker who could serve at a top-ish club with goal scoring wide players. Unbelievable pace, strength and technique for a #9. I've seen him run possibly the world's fastest player, into a torn hamstring trying to keep up with him on the break for a full 90'.

Image

Issue is he's not a natural striker and has extremely undeveloped habits within the 18Y box. He doesn't have that 'killer' instinct and his ball-striking is some of the worst I've seen, also zero aerial leap.

If he can pattern up through dedicated reps to at least average finishing territory, then he has everything else in his toolkit to be a top striker. He's bullied every top CB in the division, but you aren't elevating too much beyond perpetual top four races with a foreplay striker.

Will quite easily be our most contentious sale under Clearlake. Nico Jackson as of today is a UEL or a UCL chasing 9, but the aim of this project is much higher and the trajectory of the club just can't wait to discover if he can eventually become that guy in front of goal.

One year, two trophies. Sparse minutes, good presence in the room, never kicked up a fuss. Played when his number was called.

Raul Meireles regen of real ass dude to pass through my club, win stuff and dip. Already fond of Everton, but I'll be rooting for them even more so now.

Re: Chelsea Football Club (II) | Colwill ACL Injury

Post#153 » by Baseline81 » Thu Aug 7, 2025 11:21 pm

Chelsea defender Levi Colwill faces a long spell out of action after undergoing surgery on an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The club said Thursday that England international Colwill had "successful surgery" after "medical assessments confirmed surgery would be the required course of action."

The injury occurred as Chelsea reported for preseason training this week, following their victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the Club World Cup final three weeks earlier.

Enzo Maresca is a superior being. His football is a drug.

First outing of the new campaign, short holiday following the CWC against a conditioned Leverkusen side on their fifth match of the summer. TKO via submission. Never had to exit first gear really.

Some of the more popular performances, King João Pedro scores again. Every single touch is platinum. Runs in behind, drops deep, hold-up play and can actually strike a football. He's saved me. 18 YO boy wonder Estêvão scores on his debut, seemed to link-up via telepathy with Cole Palmer.

Some I feel deserve a shout--

Jamie Gittens (21Y):

Had Stamford Bridge standing from his first touches. Played just under 30' but was as advertised. The ball manipulation in tight spaces is special and that confidence to terrorise his fullback was on full display. Lightening step-overs. Unique physical profile, reminds me of Doué a bit. Low COG, thick, springy, compact ball of rage.

Jorrel Hato (19Y):

Absolutely zero drop off from Cucurella, just does every single thing to a good enough degree. Like I expected already, was playing in wide zones and centrally as an 8. Comfy in possession and tenacious OOP. Maresca is going to have a lot of fun with him.

Dario Essugo (20Y):

Most impressive performance for me. Like with Cucurella -> Hato, you genuinely couldn't tell Caicedo ever left the pitch from the 1st half to the 2nd. Counterpressing, effortless 1 touch progression. Could see him getting more confident the longer as he was on the pitch. Spraying passing and dictating from deep.

Josh Acheampong (19Y)

Cobham conveyor of defender churns out another. Gazelle of a player. Only pro to Colwill getting sidelined is this generational talent getting the platform to stretch his wings. Ideally they're a partnership for the next decade.

Preseason is still just preseason, but it was encouraging to see.

"60 mil"

You're not getting a reverse lick for Mason Mount.

Guessing 35-40 mil MAX, and with his age and base level output we'll be able to profit off him in a year or two if he plateau's or very marginally improves.

Might see a low offer but ManU gets a sell on clause once Chelsea sells him to La liga.

We all know that will happen.

I keep bouncing back and forth on this Garbago (Garnacho) dilemma. I understand the 'idea' in theory. We don't have many off the ball runners. Seems to be one of AGs few strengths. Great movement that he leverages to generate scoring chances and he shoots equally well off of both feet. Palmer, Gittens, João Pedro, Estêvão and Simons (GOD WILLING) are all more ball-to-feet attackers than off the ball runners, which makes Pedro Neto integral for us, but Neto is more of a playmaker than someone that's getting on the end of scoring chances like Garnacho does.

I can also forgive him bleeding clear chances because he's young, but going through a lot of longer form Garnacho content of his outside of highlights has been rather underwhelming. Loose touches, seems average technically, not some world beater athlete.

I do think he gets the short end of the stick at times and he's never really compared to the standard of age mates (U21s) however I still can't really justify this transfer unless it's coming at an extremely cut price (£30-35 mil).

Seems like it's going to happen though for sure though, we've been trying to get him for at least a year now and the links keep growing stronger. Fabrizio and then Ornstein both co-signing the transfer.

Makes 11W in our last 12.
16W in our last 18.
22W 2D 3L in our last 27, dating back until Feb.

An identity is being established and the team is gelling in the ethos of the manager. The patterns and rotations in or out of possession are becoming instinctual and you can feel the confidence grow with every successive outing.

The most confident in a squad I've been heading into a new season probably since 2018. There's still a question mark at CB, Chalobah (I'm sorry and I know this is controversial amongst our fans) is a liability & no amount of pity-posting about his 'circumstance' will change my mind. Slow, suspect in duels, terrible on the ball, mistake prone. If it came to it, I'd rather we played Acheampong LCB alongside Tosin. Rotate Hato at LCB and only use Badiashile/Chalobah/Fofana as rotation until they can be flogged off.

Besides that position, the squad is looking mint. I love the #9 options. My sweet prince João Pedro is now up to five in five without playing heavy minutes. 36' against Palmeiras, 60' Fluminense, 67' PSG, 27' Leverkusen, 60' Milan.

Delap bagged a brace, another nice first time finish. Been getting on the end of quality chances. Been tamed more-so by keeper heroics than anything else. Fun player that will provide an element that Pedro doesn't.

Comfy midfield options, more-so than last season. Caicedo is the rock, of course. Lavia has been up & down fitness wise. With Essugo and Andrey Santos breathing down his neck, we're well covered, there's also healthy competition within the squad. Young players fighting to prove they deserve to be the ones to make that position theirs.

I have a Xavi Simons monologue festering my mental chamber that I've been burderning, will only be unsheathed if the transfer goes through. Incredible footballer. Final piece of the puzzle type of signing.
