He said Matas has been there pretty much every day since the season ended. This dude is literally the anti-Pat.

Excited to see him with more on-ball responsibilities.

He will dazzle and turn it over a bunch but it will make him better.

Pat was featured on ball in his SLs. He put up stats but it looked so hard for him. I’m expecting Buz to make it look easy.

Pat’s issue is motor. He processes slow and moves slow. He’s also low IQ with no handle. Buz is high IQ with a strong handle.

100%. It was always obvious that Pat had no handle or ability to score either off the dribble or in the post, and it seemed that the org never focused his development on those things.

Matas, at least preliminarily (i.e. without being a point of defensive attention) has shown more ability there. Will be good to see some more of that this season.

He's shown that he's very comfortable putting the ball on the floor. There's a definite potential there, more than there ever was with Pat.

Glad the Bulls are actually exploring it and letting him at least try. We need to see it more beyond SL, even in preseason.

Seems like Buz is a leader.

Even more than expected.

Thanks. Fun video. He looks quite a bit older in general. It’s almost kinda weird.

Definitely has added a little muscle. Second video I’ve seen and you can see it in both. He’ll keep adding too. I actually think unlike perhaps with Lauri, adding strength is going to increase his overall athleticism. Kind of like it did with Giannis (not a player comp).

Great interview with Matas, it really does feel like he considers himself as the face of the franchise.

All-star season incoming!

Hard to believe he's only 20. He acts and is starting to play like a seasoned mid 20s vet. We sure lucked into getting him. Goes to show how silly prospect fatique is. Some guys just get too much hype too early then the boomerang back goes to far. He never should have left the top 5-7 but here we are, thankfully.

I'll go ahead and make a sig bet that Mikal is better by RPM this year than Zach.

I don't know why I'm surprised, but I am, that he is so thoughtful and articulate for such a young guy. From that POV, he reminds me of Noah. Really rooting for him to become great.

Observation so far.
#1 Personally I dont see him looking bigger than last year, but I do see him being just stronger. He handled NBA Summer League contact well and you can see he can play through it, anticipate it and make shots through contact. And most importantly him getting stronger, actually unlocked little bit more of athleticism in him. I think he focused offseason training in right direction.

Just generally not adding bulk, but adding muscle, specially muscles all over body and in his legs. That's why he actually looks little more springy and more athletic than he was. Which is absurd, given he was already one of best in game dunkers. His athleticism looks improved and most important no conditioning issue he had last year.

#2 His handle looks improved where I can see that he is gonna look little bit more for his shot this year, instead just cutting and standing in corner waiting for ball. Adding on first #1, and him clearly doing some training on his ball handling will lead to better scoring opportunities.

Btw I still dont see a playmaker in his game, he just doesnt look like that kind of guy. That's ok. With guys like Giddey on roster I dont think it's issue.

#3 His confidence was always there, but I think now walking a talk is possible. There is also bit of vocal leadership in him. I think he always had it with him, but now that his game follows what he saying depending how season goes he will be big part of voice of lockeroom. It seems Bulls also want this to happen. While Giddey was best player on roster last year and I think he will be back on roster, you still need another voice, vocal one in lockeroom who is already on roster, improving and can provide same leadership.

I noticed he was #13 at Sunrise Academy and also on Ignite. Do we know why he changed? Might it have to do with Noah?

From those highlights it looks like AK isn't the only one who doesn't miss!

The handles and the step-back have me excited.

A good step back from a legit 6'10" player. That's unguardable.

Torrey Craig was wearing 13 at the time and now Huerter does.
