KG is homosexuality a mental illness?
Mat is Gender Dysphoria classified as a mental illness?
I know both of you could feel attacked by my questions, but I am trying to be careful to not give an opinion either way. The discussion you are having seems to be drifting away from what is truly interesting and relevant in our time.
No what is relevant to our time and the discussion is whether they deserve to be Wolves fans…
We have one group who is arguing for division in being a Wolves fan, the other side isn’t. Just because I don’t like KG or people who think like him I don’t think he should not see his team include him as a fan(which they did).
I don’t know that anyone has a right to decide whether someone else “ deserve to be Wolves fans…”
I see both sides of this argument and I see why people take it so personally. That said I don’t think you are asking the correct questions. For a long time homosexuality was considered a sickness. It was officially classified as a mental illness at one point. Today it is accepted by some, tolerated by others, and persecuted by plenty more. This argument started because KG took issue with a survey question that he seemed troubled by. His issue with it exposed his inherent bias against a subset of the population. This in turn exposed your bias against a different subset of the population. You dislike him because you find him bigoted and ignorant. That said, had the team left off the possibility of gender nonconformity in their survey would you have discontinued your fandom in protest? Do you boycott individuals and institutions that are not inclusive, or only the ones who say so publicly? Ant has made homophobic statements, is he not a real Timberwolf? The issue of who deserves what is more complicated than who believes what, I think deep down you know this. Perhaps a better way to establish dialogue is to question the origin of the belief (misguided or not,) and have a discussion about that.
