TBH, I think it's a more strategic approach than committing a ton of long term money just to be a second tier contender.

The most reasonable approach is to contend for 3-5 years in a row then pause for a soft reboot.
Clear the books by allow aging stars to leave.
Grab a high draft pick to either build with or trade for a vet.
Acquire lower cost role players to fill in the gaps.

It's a gamble, for sure. But when I see how Milwaukee has painted themselves into a corner with bad contracts, short-sighted draft trades and holding on too long to a fading core -- I can't help but think how much better they'd be today if they had just done a soft reboot when they fired Budenholzer and reloaded with a better core.

I agree.
I think the Celtics have been doing things right.
Tatum, Brown, White, and AJ, or a high lottery pick is the right fit. Put Simons in a position to have success and move him at the deadline for more draft assets.

Marcus Morris' latest legal woes stem from allegations he stole over $250,000 from two prominent Las Vegas casinos ... TMZ Sports has learned. According to court documents we obtained, the NBA player allegedly got $115,000 from the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino via bad checks in May 2024 ... and never paid it back when the checks bounced. Officials state around a month later, in June 2024, he performed a similar scam at the Wynn Las Vegas Hotel and Casino ... netting $150,000 through checks he knew wouldn't cash.

$6 million off his maximum is like me saying keep the $1.50 change from a $20 dollar bill.

It's questionable how good of a coach Steve Kerr actually is. I expect him to stay as long as Steph Curry is around and then Kerr leaves.
