What will new look Hawks Rotations & Playing Time look like?

We have a pretty deep squad.

Now how do we deploy these players?
What lineups are you most intrigued by?
Who starts?
Who closes?

I'm sure we'll use Kennard, but I think KP ends up closer to 30 MPG, instead of 20.

I think we see a lot more lineups featuring JJ, OO, and KP on the floor together.

If we're really trying to get ahead of the injury bug, we should be trying to load manage a lot throughout the season, and see majority of our guys under 30 MPG, including Trae. That will depend on whether we can really afford to have guys sitting for longer stretches, but I would hate to see a bad injury for being overworked.

Do Hawks still need a high level backup PG

I've been thinking about that. I think between Kobe, NAW, Dyson, Vit and the return of JJ we might be ok.....but it still gives me pause as since we've drafted Trae the offense has struggled when he sits.

Thoughts on Nikola getting a shot at some backup PG duties?

Kinda bizarre hypothesis for a thread, though I appreciate it's taken from a tweet. In what world is KP not starting (if injury free)? Is 20 minutes a game supposed to be some kind of discount for the expectation he only plays 2/3 of the games?

Just an annual thing we do to track most/least effective lineups, which are used most at the start of games, in crunch time, etc.

That all seems great (and super standard). It was KP not being a starter than seemed strange.

NOTED:

This is something the fanbase is watching closely. And we're pretty divided on it, TBH.

Okongwu waited 4+ seasons to finally get a shot as the starting Center. Even with his size limitations, he performed adequately.

Will the coaching staff take the starter's role away from him to give to an injury prone vet on an expiring deal? :dontknow:

It'll be fascinating to watch play out.

Well said and agree.
We've said the Hawks play the older vet off the bench before when they signed FA Gallo to backup John Collins.
They also played DeAndre Hunter off the bench behind Risacher to manage his minutes based on his injury history.
Can see them doing the same with KP.
Also, will KP be in their long term plans beyond this season? Would he be interested in staying beyond his contract? All things to consider.

I really like our lineup and the fit.

But talent wise, that is not a championship caliber starting 5.
It will all come down to coaching and fit...which might be asking a lot.

Can't say I disagree. That's why I find it strange when I hear the talking heads say if Trae doesn't win with the group....Yada yada yada.
All I can say is we have a better roster in terms of fit than least season (on paper), we have more length and more versatile players.

The backup Forward spots are still looking mighty weak...

I guess I'll be the voice of enthousiasm. Hawks are 8 deep as good as any team. Starting 5 needs more growth due to age, but they will compete and had a plus +/- last season if not mistaken. Should be one of the best benches in the league.
Looking for a 3 or 4 seed from this team and they are very capable of playing late in the playoffs
Keep up the good work and things look to keep getting better for these young Hawks

I personally hope OO can be a 4/5 for us.
I looking forward to seeing OO and KP on the floor together at times. KP can go outside on offense and OO man inside. It will open things up.

We should be top 3 agree in points in the paint.
