Re: The Julius Randle Thread
As a fan looking for a championship, I don’t like this. Price-wise, seems fair, but DON'T LIKE NAZ/RANDLE fit at all.
Some of you that want Rudy gone baffles my mind.
At the end of the day, we aren't going to beat OKC w Randle. Maybe this extension at a reasonable price can be utilized as an asset, but I unfortunately don't see it. Hope he proves me wrong.

Julius Randle might not be a superstar, but he certainly is a star. This is the whole video that minimus referred to.
At his size his driving/passing/3 point skills are among the best in the NBA. Last season it took a while to work him in, but once we did we were one of the best teams in the NBA. One tough series against OKC and our fan base wants to bail out and give him away. It's driving me up a freaking wall. We need to appreciate what we got.

He was all NBA third team not long ago (giving a lot has to do with being in New York). If he could regain some of that, just not playing like against OKC. He could be very good for the team.

IMO time for us to stop whining about Randle and be glad we have him.

I sense a small amount of sarcasm there, but it's hard to tell since you are not in the continental US.

Be honest with yourself at least.
Trading him is getting rid of him. We get something back, but we still got rid of him. IMO the trades you are offering to "exchange" him in are horribly below his value. You're talking about trading him and DDV for Nembhard. I don't give a rat's ass about Toppin.

Re: The Julius Randle Thread
I was looking a bit at his stats recently, and I found it interesting that there was really not much difference in his counting stats when looking at before his injury compared to after.
Before: 18.9/7.2/4.5 in 32.5 mpg
After: 18.2/6.8/5.2 in 31.7 mpg
The biggest difference was in his efficiency, going from .470/.321/.811 to .523/.398/.791.
Also interesting....up until his injury, the playmaking/assisting was pretty split. Ant and Julius both averaged 4.5 apg with Conley at 4.4 apg. When the team was humming from March 1 onward (17-4 record), Ant (4.4 apg) and Mike (4.3 apg) took a slight dip compared to earlier while Julius took on a bigger facilitating role (5.2 apg). This was when Nickeil also took on a bigger role, increasing his assist average from 3.4 to 4.4.
I wish I was better with lineup data, to see if there were specific lineup combinations that created this difference. I have a bit of a guess that he was playing more with Naz and/or Jaden in smaller lineup combos though. I know people didn't really like the smaller lineups defensively, but I think it's a weapon that can bring out the best in the team offensively. And I think Nickeil's role should be able to be replicated by TJ enough to keep those lineups effective.

Post injury Randle had the 50-40 part down. Have to settle for almost 80 on the FTs. 5.2 APG is really, really nice from the PF spot. It still baffles me why people want to send him packing.

Re: The Julius Randle Thread
Just read this today and don't know if it true:
Julius Randle's resurgence in the 2024-25 season with the Minnesota Timberwolves was one of the most talked-about stories from last campaign. Averaging a career-high 21.7 points per game and helping the team advance to the Western Conference Finals, Randle showed a level of focus and clarity that surprised many. However, what shocked many even more was when he revealed that this transformation was only possible after he stopped smoking weed.
So, that may explain his inconsistency play. Don't do well in DEN, LA, DC, and CHI?
Wait, I actually I prefer the weed smoking Randle
