MIL - OKC - BRK - TOR: RJ Barrett to MIL

MIL trades: Kyle Kuzma, 2032 MIL 1st
in: RJ Barrett, 2027 SAS 1st (1-16 protected, otherwise SAC + CHA 2nds), 2029 OKC 1st
Milwaukee swaps Kuzma and a first for a somewhat better player who can create individual offense, too (albeit, not efficient individual offense). They also have two firsts to play with for follow-up deals. RJ is horribly inefficient and doesn't have ideal size at the 3, so it isn't perfect, but I do think it is an upgrade over Kuzma who just shouldn't be in many rotations.

OKC trades: 2027 1st (lowest of OKC/DEN/LAC not conveyed to LAC, functionally, second lowest of these), 2027 SAS 1st (1-16 protected, otherwise SAC + CHA 2nds), 2029 OKC 1st
in: 2032 MIL 1st
OKC trades for a high-variance asset in the future.

BRK trades: Terance Mann
in: Kyle Kuzma, 2027 1st (lowest of OKC/DEN/LAC not conveyed to LAC, functionally, second lowest of these)
Brooklyn pays more on an annual basis but gets a first for doing so (and gets off of Mann's last year).

TOR trades: RJ Barrett
in: Terance Mann
Toronto drops $12 million in salary on an annual basis, but also adds an additional year. I think Mann is a reasonable fit on their team, too. He is a decent 3 point shooter, still a 2/3 like RJ, but also provides secondary creation (which Toronto seems to favor).

Money wise it makes sense but i think it makes us worse this year (namely when ingram is injured we will need RJs scoring) and the FO seem intent on making the playoffs.

So Toronto downgrades from RJ to Mann to duck the tax?

I get that RJ is paid high, but there are better ways to duck the tax. And Mann plays the same position (SG/SF) where Toronto is already overloaded.

This works better if there’s a PG or C coming back.
