For us?
Yeah, he sucks. That should give us an advantage when we play them.

This season is going to open a lot of eyes to our fanbase and community. We haven't had this level of excitement since when? Dwight era? What if we indeed make it to the Conference Finals? The season should be jumping up and down. Haha. Can't wait!

Hard to believe in one offseason we acquired a star guard, a legitimate point guard, and potentially a legit spark plug scoring guard off the bench. How long has it been since we’ve had any one of those, let alone all three? Close a couple times but not quite there.

Maybe coach wants a faster offense and the players have to build up their condition to do that. We’ve been playing at a snails paste for so long, the players weren’t worried about that type of conditioning.

Might be a good sign of things to come.

Getting better at cardio won't improve overnight. On top of that, if pushed too hard it typically gets way worse before getting better.

Also in my humble opinion with how intense we can be on defense, offensive energy has always been a struggle.

Im not sure hes complaining. What I hear from him and the players is that- in order to play at high pace - you need the players moving and talking and problem-solving even when they're winded from sprinting or at the tail end of their minutes on the floor. Players have said the coaches want them working flat out 100% and then asking to be subbed out rather than conserving energy. So I think Mose is preaching execution under exhaustion. That does take practice.

Annual GM survey results are out. Nothing huge but Franz 5th in player most likely to breakout this year and Orlando 4th in best offseason moves.

Franz averaged 24-6-5 with great defense last year. Almost every advanced stat had him as a top 25 player. Not sure what else he needs to do to "break out" other than that Magic winning 50 games instead of 40

I thought Brown is a SG in BOS and Tatum was the SF?

Other than that... yeah Franz is IMO top3 SF in the league.

Media now asking questions on conditioning.

Coach views the Philly game as "the answer" to the conditioning question. What is clear, as has been guessed by many here, is that the Magic hope to run many more fast breaks this season; but STILL be tough on defence. Thus: conditioning.

The Magic was just voted #1 as the team that will be the most improved. At 51.5 wins predicted, that implies that no team will improve by more than 10 games this season.

Well, the Sixers could improve by 16 games and still be a losing club. The Pelicans could improve by 19 games and still be a loser. That matters as the betting lines has NO at 32.5 wins, which is a LARGER improvement than Orlando.

Even the Spurs, last year at 34 wins, SA could have a great improvement.
p.s. The largest one-season turnaround in NBA history belongs to the 1997–98 San Antonio Spurs, who improved by 36 wins from the previous season:
1996–97 Spurs: 20–62
1997–98 Spurs: 56–26
Improvement: +36 wins

Media must see something that the betting lines don't see to make this prediction.

I see us closer to 60 wins then 51. But, I could understand 51 if the mentality was to rest injury prone players to help / prevent in jury.

We are going to need to be at 60 wins to have a shot at the Finals which I do believe we have. It’s a toss up in health and opponent in the ECF if we make it or not imo.

Return to Orlando Magic
