People reading too much into something that isn't there.

One thing I know about rich people is that they would never admit they were struggling so they'd never even bring it up. The pride takes over.

He’s a strange guy. If you followed him in Charlotte at all you’d have a much different view of the man.

Hornets fans do not like him and for good reason.

People have been doing that for years, and he all of a sudden just woke up to it? That's odd, lol

I guess we'll have to see what this segment looks like first before determining what he might or might not be trying to do, because so far, there's nothing juicy going on.

I think the last dance was also done because of this, maybe it wasn't just LeBron but it was more of a "hey remember me!? Remember how great I was!???" cry of insecurity...

How is it strange? He’s a billionaire and doesn’t need the money.

So is this just going to be Last Dance season 2? Heavily controlled borderline propaganda by Jordan’s team that reminds everyone how great he is?

When you’re that rich and famous it’s actually really hard to be likable. Dumb little things we do or say every day get magnified, the press tends to focus on the negative, and even a great PR team has a hard time with constantly spinning things.

You almost have to be a Keanu Reeves level good guy not to get crapped on by the world. Not saying MJ isn’t a prick, but it’s a crazy way to live.

This is an offseason thread that has snuck its way into opening week.

I have no idea how MJ is doing financially. But, when I watched him interviewed in The Last Dance, his eyes looked bloodshot. Personally, I did not think he looked well.

Watching the actual clip, you have to be pretty stunted to not understand he's saying it's an obligation to the game and not the paycheck.

They 100% brought him aboard to hype the current product they are selling. So it makes sense the first segment is meant to establish he’s not there just for a paycheck because that will be some people’s first thoughts when he ends up having a lot of positive things to say about the current game and players.

MJ made the Hornets/Bobcats sell 2nd round picks to save money despite the team being bad, he definitely cares about money above most things.

I think he took the NBC job because he wants to be around when LeBron is retiring so he can downplay him though.

MJ sees the writing on the wall and is already sharpening his axe for the Wemby GOAT discussion. Too late MJ, the train is out of the station.

He makes something like $300 million per year from Nike alone. I think he's probably fine .

I thought this thread would be about how he carefully phrased his description of the modern NBA as "what people say is great basketball" instead of simply saying "great basketball," and not some half-baked conspiracy bull about his financial condition.

it's strange because we all know he's incredibly wealthy. it's an unsolicited comment phrased weirdly. like it's the sort of thing you'd say as a joke. but he didn't sound or seem to joke. he seemed like he sincerely wanted to convey he wasn't doing it for money. like that's the last thing i'd be thinking--that he was doing this for the money. if the McDonald's CEO took a job in the kitchen of a franchise and told you in a sincere tone that it wasn't for the extra minimum wage paycheck, that wouldn't be strange to you?

but maybe he's hearing people talk about the money and that's on his mind. it just came out funny and all i could think about were the conspiracy theories about him.

Dr. J told MJ when Jordan was young, “If you ever need anything, don’t hesitate to call.” MJ told Kobe was Kobe was young, “If you ever need anything, don’t hesitate to call.” Kobe would call Jordan a lot for advice and Jordan would always answer and give him advice.

Jordan has a lot of respect for the game of basketball and wants to contribute his advice before he’s gone.

Wemby is the goat of falling down, dethroning Embiid very quickly...
