After watching AJ at the FIba U19 WC and seeing others echo the same concerns about his game that I had and seeing DP's name mentioned in those threads I wanted to see what that was about and all I can say is wow. How the hell is AJ the #1 player in all the rankings when even just from this one clip its very obvious that DP is clearly the more outstanding prospect?
I've watched a dozen or so videos now on DP and there is not a single thing that makes me go "hmm well Im not sure if this would work at the pro level". I dont see a single red flag about his game. All I see are things that will clearly translate to the next level, like the elite first step, that wiggle and agility, the shot making, the change of speeds and directions. All things that elite players are made of.
AND he is shooting 44% from 3??. AND he is great on defense too? Like how the hell is this guy not #1 in his class?

And am I the only one seeing a little Kobe in him?

The last time I felt like this watching a HS SG was with Anthony Edwards.

AJ just has way too many red flags and uncertainties in his game to me to have him ranked above DP.

And just lol. Again, I have only seen youtube videos of him but even from those clips its VERY obvious and clear he is anything but a mid athlete. Unless a good athlete for you is only someone who has a 40+ vertical and dunks everything.
He seems to have an elite first step, great wiggle and agility and change of speed and directions. Those are basically the most important aspects of athleticism for a guard/wing prospect.

Gonna keep revisiting this course of the season

Please do

This bigboi guy was calling Flagg mediocre all year long last year too. Some people are just like this. Let him do his thing.

Flagg is mid. played in probably the weakest ACC year in the last 20 years. Idek if Flagg would be top 3 in this draft. Dybantsa damn near better than Peterson at everything other than defense

Yep, just like I thought. He is the best SG prospect since Kobe. Don’t care if it’s a preseason game

Dominated as I expected and wasn’t even that great in the second half.

He doesn't have the quickness or explosiveness that made Rose great. More skilled and significantly better shooter though, very different prospect.

He plays like Jordan Poole offensively to me tbh. Heavily reliant on 3. No in between game

Disagree. He has it’s just smoother. Rose was an explosive athlete especially in changing directions. Both can just raise up and shoot over the defense.

You can put in your sig. I’ll pull up some video later. I’ve said this for the last year. The Kobe comparisons make 0 sense as he doesn’t use the midrange and he isn’t close athletically. I already said that Peterson is an average athlete. I’m not seeing the Mitchell comparisons either who is an elite athlete. Peterson will be good off active defense alone but stylistically he plays pretty similar to Poole on offense. Dybantsa is number 1

The dude went against Dybantsa and made damn near 0 midranges. His game revolves around floaters, layups and 3s. Quit the bs. Dybantsa is much more a midrange player

If you’re going to paint narratives at least make them be truthful. The first jumper he made yesterday was a middy over Mikel Brown. His shot diet changed after working with the Prolific coaching staff and Phil Beckner. It’s cool to prefer AJ but you don’t gotta downplay Darryn to boost your guy

Plenty of midrange makes in here

I watched the first 5 minutes of this vid and it’s literally proving my point lmaoooo. Majority of his shots were near the rim, 3s, or floaters. Midrange is by far his least utilized shot. This is like calling prime Harden a midrange player, that’d be pure lies and delusion. Can’t be getting Kobe comparisons if your game isn’t heavily midrange based. Dybantsa is a heavy midrange player in the half court. We can compare the tape as much as you want. I don’t even know how this is an argument lmao. Peterson will be good but he plays nothing like Kobe or many of the comparisons at hand

I don’t compare him to Kobe so I don’t care who does it. My issue is calling him Jordan Poole..but it’s whatever…we’ll see how the season goes.

He is in the same category as Boozer. All I need is his measurements at this point. Top 3 is set. I’m not about to argue about what order anyone has them in right now.
