Crazy idea, but trade for Lauri or Zion, once their seasons tank. Move Matas to the 3
I think Okoro will be fine-just a weak start but he's playing hard
We need center ,not another PF..
We are three deep at center. What we need is a rim protector/rebounder. It would be nice to have a big 4 to help with that that could complement our 5s.
We will need center, Vooch is on his way out.. and yes that center needs to be defensive aka rim protector.
I dont think AKME will trade for Lauri or Zion at this stage.

Sonething fishy for my taste as well.. I think there is few refs who should be under investigation for years.

This team playing like this without Coby (and Collins to a lesser degree) is very impressive. Winning this one with Buzelis as a non factor even more impressive. They can go 10+ deep on any given night, and Donovan can just ride the hot hands.
Elite is way too strong of a word, but I generally agree.
He single handily stop Banchero. Banchero was killing us at the line. If Pat did not stop him he may have received 20 plus free throws from ref.
Pat neutralized the post play and stopped him from getting to the rim. Made Banchero a mid range shooter with his hands up on every shot.
I honestly do not believe we stop Banchero without Pat. In the 4th they were desperately trying to screen Pat to get him off Banchero.

Feels good to be the team not getting roasted for once.
This dude knocked out a bunch of the games today. So I will forgive him mixing up Huerter and Buzelis.

Matas played stupid. It wasn't the refs. But it's ok. He is still a kid. He is likely going to do it once every so often for a while.

My prediction that the Bulls would be alright without Coby is looking pretty good.
Nine to 10 good players won't win a title but it does mean that no single player is much missed.

Williams played great defense in the 4th quarter. Banchero did score, from my count, 17 points in the first 18 minutes he and Williams were both on the court. Overall a very good game from Williams though and he definitely reminded us that he can play defense at a high level when his energy level is also high.

Or… Coby shows up with his 3 ball and gravity and the whole court opens up and we win both of these games by 20+ coasting and letting our starters rest.

Re: PG: 9-10 Good players
I’m so drunk off that Red. It’s all I see.
I walked past a mirror last night and Johnny Kerr was staring back at me.
7th franchise title 30 years after 72-10?
Alright I’ll calm down now. Can’t wait for Coby to get added to this mix in all seriousness.

He had trouble with the strength differential with both Wagner and Paolo and was hacking. One or two perhaps you could call ticky-tack but they were still fouls.
One of those areas we will be reminded that how high we are in him, he’s still quite young with a lot to improve.

I share the view that it’s at least legitimately possible we are better off spending that money on multiple smaller contracts and we move on from Coby. Or one similar one in an interior defender instead.
But some of the reason we look good is because some of these 9-10 players make it work and the others help it work, if that makes sense. For example, in these first two games (and the last 20 games of last season) I feel none of it works this way without Giddey. None of it. In my opinion he’s the primary reason we can played like this the last 2 dozen games and the team is so far being logically constructed around that plan. You take him off, good as Tre and Ayo have looked, I think we see a notable downgrade in overall team performance.
I can’t say Coby is like that as well because we haven’t seen it yet. Maybe the defensive attention he demands makes an absolutely massive positive impact on the good things we are already seeing? Could happen. Maybe he proves to be easily replaceable by others in this style.
All part of what makes this one of the two most interesting Bulls seasons in the last 10 years.
Once a pickle, never a cucumber again.

Exactly. We all love our boy, but he’s going to have games like this. He’s learning fast but he’s still got a lot of learning left to do. And, as the Orlando game showed, muscle to add.

Meh, it isn't that he was outmuscled. I think he was outsmarted. Wagner and Paulo went at him and he got lazy on defense and kept defending with his hands and hacking.

They pushed him around like a pawn on a chess board. He had zero ability to hold his ground so he hacked. The good news is he won’t normally be guarding huge strong wings like that. Orlando is not a typical matchup at those spots.

Re: PG: 9-10 Good players
Pace and depth is going to win us games, and i've been saying it all offseason.
15 offesnive rebounds for the Magic, if we did better rebounding and ending possesions this game would have been even more decisively won
Tre Jones is awesome and our guard depth is going to be the envy of the league. Just look at how teams like Houston and Dallas are already struggling due to the lack of a good point guard.
I'm not going to overreact to two decent gams from Pat, just like i'm not going to over react to two scoreless games from Okoro.
Orlando made their big move - four 1st round picks for Desmond Bane. Still a lot of time for the team to gel, but he was primarily brought in to improve their spacing and effeciency and so far is shooting 26% from 3 with a TS of 53%
Will Bane solve their issues? I'm not so sure. I think the bigger issue is that Banchero is their star and has, throughout his entire career, been high volume with poor efficiency.

He was overpowered but he needs to learn to stop trying to block every shot. He started to try to hard.
I hope sitting him down would calm him.

The strength difference effected his game. Matas never got his rhythm. Plus he played Wagner like he did not read the scouting report. Matas needed to make him shoot. Instead he ran out there and Wagner ran by him.
