While scoring and/or shooting pcts. are always good and needed, my personal most important factor in PP is what are his Ast/turnover ratios. Always felt that should be number 1 priority for PGs.Parliament10 wrote:I think that Pritchard will be our 3rd Scoring Starter.

While scoring and Ast/turnover ratio are great - he needs to up his defense and play less selfish
All the contenders have guards that can abuse him on defense and shut him down on offense (even on the second team). He is on a manageable contract, but i would not play him more than 20 minutes a game. Time to groom other guards. Hugo, Baylor even Scrubb (2-way?)

I feel Pritchard will have a 17, 5 and 5 season. He might even average 18 or 19 points per game. Pritchard has skill and heart.

PP is a known commodity. We won't get more wins when he is the players that plays the most minutes. We have a lot of unknown players. Let them get minutes and experience - they will either sink or swim. We need to figure out who stays and who leaves. Won't happen if you play PP heavy minutes

So you are saying limit the minutes of Pritchard, one of the best players on the team, so other guys get a chance. No team will do that, unless it's the end of the season and the team is out of playoff contention. With that logic, why not limit Brown and White's minutes to 20 minutes or less also. Both of them are known commodities.
Prichard is currently the best player on this team this year, behind Brown and White.

Yes
He isn't a star like JB or someone you need to keep happy like White so you can limit his minutes for the greater good of the team
We are losing with him on court. Might as well lose with other guys on court so they will develop or sink
PP can be a 7-8 player on a contender at best and will not develop much more than what he is now
This is the opportunity the team has till JT comes back

Pritchard will keep getting better because he puts in the time. Boston is going to play their best players, to give them the best chance to win. It's been only 3 games. Why aren't ready to throw in the towel. If after the all-star break, we around are 18-32, then Boston will start giving Brown, White and Pritchard more days off, to play more of the younger guys.

This is Pritchard's 6th year in the NBA.
Do people think that he should be Starting?

Re: Welcome to Boston, Payton Pritchard!
I think it's ok to start him. I'm not big on it, but the experience could pay off for us later. It's just odd to me to go looking for a new 6th man when you have the reigning 6moty right there lol. But I get the urge to make him prove it against starters. Ownership would probably like a starting PG on Pritchard's salary. If he can do it that might be the plan going forward. We can quibble over "should be" but i don't think that would stop us from making a deep playoff run next season. Pritchard will really have to show out in the playoffs. Best way for him to get there might be facing starting level defenses and chasing starting PG's around.

I didn't originally, but now I like him starting. The struggles against other starters are good, imo. This is a development year. Develop him and make him better. If the team next year needs him off the bench, great, he'll be even better.

Maybe it will be earlier that PP is needed off the bench.
Tatum returns, Brad makes a big move, using Simons' contract, and it becomes a different outlook.

Definitely. I like White, Jays, Wing of some size or stretch 4, true big as the real lineup. Don't really care if it happens this year or not.
In the interim, develop Payton.

Agree.
PP might end up staying longer in Boston than DWhite.
So PP should be considered as someone who could be a Celtic for life.

Staying with 1 Team is getting harder and harder these days.

True.
As long as PP won't be asking for too much, he's a keeper.

Those are his averages right now, and now that he's shooting better, his points average might indeed get nudged up a little.
