Re: Official 2025-2026 Regular Season Thread
IMHO Goga is better then WCJ only in collecting stats - rebs, blocks and dunks. As for screens, positioning, guarding perimeter WCJ is way way better.
Both are still very bad this season.

Goga is really the best high post initiator of offense we have
Goga crashes out mentally half the time.
Goga is a solid backup. I don’t see him starting unless WCJ is injured.

Re: Official 2025-2026 Regular Season Thread
I’m curious if we dnp-cd JI from here on out hit the 52 game contract killer threshold in late February could we waive him and save the roughly ten mil immediately?
I find this scenario highly unlikely because it would tarnish the image of the front office with agents I think but still curious if it sort of happens naturally.
Add to that we unload Jett for a 2nd rounder and we free up his space too.

I wonder if the Nets would trade Haywood Highsmith for Jett and a 2nd. A 37% 3 point shooting and solid defensively at PF. Would love if they could find a way via 3rd team take JI with em. Heck, I would trade Jett for Kevin Love.

AB needs to armor up. He stinks this game. 1 for 6 from 3 pt and -28 in +/-
I really hope he improves. He has so much upside to fulfill and I think this season it is his last chance to show he deserves the rookie extension

Nets drafted like 12 guards, don't even have enough time to play them today
But yea... I don't think Jett has nba market, it's Nets or out of nba. But probably out of nba.

I don’t think it’s a great comparison. Seems like click bait / troll stuff. Seems like you bit though.
The comp fits for jump-shooting but glosses over the fact that Smith had the BBIQ of a tadpole and Banchero (generally) makes good decisions.
Compare FT%.
Compare Pts per game.
Compare Double team %
It isn’t a relevant comparison.
I only mentioned they were similar in terms of jump-shooting. You're right on everything else. It don't mattah, though, none of this mattahs.

For me its very relevant comparison when you look at impact. I would say Paolo is the more destructive one, becouse at least Smith could anchor defense.
Paolo has lower efficiency with higher volume in time when efficiency skyrockets and random dudes score 40+points. Paolo could be better playmaker but both should not be primary decision makers at all costs. Paolo processing speed suggests he shouldnt run offense at all or in minimal way.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Re: Official 2025-2026 Regular Season Thread
Maybe it's just becoming clear (again) that Franz is still the best PG on the team and we should just lean into that. The catch is that it only has happened when Paolo is out because Paolo's (immense) offensive talent is largely iso dribble-drive from the perimeter inward, rather than cutting and finishing....IDK, there's just so much talent on this squad and it's clearly not meshing. That doesn't guarantee it can't but so far it's a mess - and I'm including last season's offense. It's just very limited despite the overall individual talen - on paper.

Paolo is averaging 1.4 blocks a game.
Chet. 1.3.
Paolo isn’t the issue.

Whoa.... Won't go that far.... His hands down/chest forward guarding style and laziness on most players is still an issue.... Whether or not he explodes off the floor more often to hunt blocks.
Not saying he IS THE issue.... But he can do a whole lot better on that side of the ball too.

Dude gotta get those hands up earlier, for sure. He does it, but often too late to affect the shot

Bane is not the same tier of player as Wagner, he shouldn't have higher usage.
I never thought the Magic could address this shooting issue by simply acquiring, and overinvesting in one player.
The smart way to build a team is with more balanced players overall abd shooting from top to bottom like OKC or Indiana instead of overinvesting in defense for years and sitting there with our thumb up our ass wondering why we can't shoot.

This trade wasn't some conspiracy - it was just a GM wanting AD bad enough where in most people's eyes he overpaid by a long shot to get him.

i like what I am seeing from Da Silva so far. Seems to have made the 2nd year jump and adjusted to NBA play. 12 ppg 38% from 3. hope he can keep it up for the year.

The promising thing is that his 3 really looks good. quick release and not shy to shoot someone on the face
His shooting motion looks so much better than last season. Same for Franz

Just wait till Suggs get 100% healthy and Moe comes back. Our bench is going to get scary. Haha
