Luka with the most points in a Lakers' first 2 games, but the Reaves has the team high of 51. Funny

Reaves is the GoAT but a very impressive Ayton game. Rolled hard, ran the break on offense and defense plus rebounded aggressively. If he can set harder screens, that accomplishes all you need from your center.

I really hope they trade Gabe/Dalton/Kleber just to see how the trio of Luka, Bron, and Austin look like with quality rotation players. You can already see the impact that a washed Marcus Smart has.

And even Ayton the last 2 games
Gabe is too small for what he is
You can only be his size if you are really special in one area and he isnt
He isnt a defensive dog like Davion Mitchell
Not a sniper
Not a jitterbug high energy guy like TJ
Kleber is basically useless besides being an expiring (which is still useful)
DK isnt going to get a real shot here, kinda sucks though as a good movement shooter is nice to have
I think we make 1-2 moves, just unsure if theyre big enough to make a real difference
At a minimum:
1) Need a defensive C option
2) A 3 and defender who is longer than Smart, but quicker than Rui

Yeah, Gabe is done. He's just too small and just not good enough of an off-ball player. His best moments have been when he gets to handle the ball more.
There are some cheaper options they can go for like Carter jr or Goga, Isaac, Highsmith, Agbaji, Dosunmo but I think they're trying to aggregate contracts for a bigger salary.
Dillion Brooks for Gabe/Kleber/draft capital makes a lot of sense to me. I kinda hope that deal happens. Derrick White is a pipe dream if Boston is out of contention and they want to cash in on him (he's a bit too old to be part of their next run) but I doubt Boston trades him and the Lakers would be outbid anyways.

That Bronny roster spot really stings in games like these. Dude can’t even bring the ball up the court against NBA level defensive pressure and if he isn’t even your third string ball handler, I don’t know what he is. Could have really used Goodwin today.

I mean LeBron, Luka, Reaves, Smart, Gabe are all meant to see time before Bronny. That's why they got rid of Goodwin. I agree though, I liked Goodwin, wish Hayes was gone instead.

Absolute star-making start to the season for Reaves. He was probably all-star level last season and has leveled up.

Lakers really brought in two of the better guards in the league on two-ways...

Fortunately for LA his cap hold is manageable, but not looking good for 27' plan if they have one

Cold ass white boy!
I thought Ayton was setting the dumbest screen by bringing the double into Reaves on the catch for the game winner but looks like he did a decent job getting Rudy out of the paint there.

They need to push in some chips this season. Unless they think AR+3 1sts will get them Giannis and have an inside track
I think Luka, Bron, and AR are a good enough trio to win it all
But need a solid supporting cast
Need a 2nd option at C besides Ayton, someone more defensive minded
Need a 2 way guy who is over 6'6 and quicker than Rui, but taller than Smart
We have 6-7 playoff guys imo
Luka, Lebron, AR, Smart, Ayton, Rui, Laravia (on the border line)
Vando is situational
Gabe needs to be upgraded for sure
Any off the radar targets you see us eyeing/being a fit?

Thread title should expand...

I think, at least offensively, you have to say yes. I just still worry for the Lakers, that having no good to great defensive big behind them spells doom. Maybe, Lebron's last metamorphosis will be as a defensive rim protector

I think we need a 2nd option at C, more defensive minded guy, but who??
Rw3 is the low cost, but high risk high upside guy
Claxton shouldnt cost much, but his contract is big and I doubt we go for a guy that would ruin 2027 FA
Kessler was the guy to go after, but that hope is gone
I do think Bron should and will give a lot more effort on D though with Luka and Reaves taking a big load off his shoulders offensively

What is Luka's PPG even gonna be this season? He's scoring +40 plus every game and it doesn't even seem like he's sweating
