Kyle balled out. That was fun to watch.
Loveland showed out with the big GW TD to the house.
Welcome back Mr.Booker with the strip sack.
I know we are way undermanned but our youngsters are certainly growing quick.

CJ GJ is the "big" acquisition for secondary, so I expect Poles to go fishing for a pass rusher. Idealistically, I would love to get Hunter from the Texans but realistically, I think the Bears will end up with Johnson from the Jets.

How sustainable it is, is anyone’s guess. The last offensive player the Bears put on the field recently that was this much fun and confidence inspiring to watch I can’t recall. I’m thinking maybe Brandon Marshall. Yet there’s something special about a running back doing the job.

Let it happen.
When there is under 2 minutes left and we need a score Caleb already is a stud. He won't win us every game that goes down to the wire but he gives a better chance than any other QB we've had here in many decades.

Is Dayo anything other than a well paid Demarcus Walker that held up Ryan Poles at gunpoint? Don’t worry about much more than being short a warm body

To be fair, he does a decent job of setting the edge on run plays. Booker doesn’t have the size to do that. We don’t have another big edge on the roster. Robinson is still hurt but maybe he comes back soon?

Other than against us, Jeanty has been very average so far in his NFL career. Very glad we didn't have the chance to take him. I think he's only had one game averaging more than 4 ypc aside from his game v. CHI, and has failed to break 100 yards in any other game either. Raiders fans have to be worried about that.
But Brock Bowers continues to do amazing things. First TE since Gronk with 3 TD's and over 125 yards in a game, fastest TE to hit 1,500 yards since 1970.

If this kid is for real, our RB stable is suddenly looking very good when Swift gets healthy. Brittain Brown may make Roschon expendable very soon too. One less need we'll have going into the next draft. And kudos to Poles for finding Kyle in the 7th round.

Jayden Daniels with his third injury this season, and that one looked bad. What was he doing in the game down 31 points in the 4th quarter, let alone running with the ball? Hopefully he'll learn, but with his sleight frame and tendency to run, this was always a concern with him.

Bears have to get their kickoff coverage fixed in a hurry. Letting the other team start every drive at the 35-40 is just putting added pressure on an already weak defense.

I'm not in any fantasy leagues, but the stats are crazy. I'm not even sure what to take from this.
Swift does not play.
LBIII does not play.
Kmet gets hurt and leaves with 1 catch for 10 yards on 2 targets.
Bears score 47 points with no defensive or ST TD's.
Rome - 0 catches on 3 targets
DJ - Only 72 yards receiving on 4 targets....but had a TD pass AND a 17 yard TD pass.
Rookie 7th rnd RB in his first start rumbles for 176 yards on the ground, but gets no TD's.
Loveland comes out of nowhere with 6 catches for 118 yards and 2 TD's.
CW's fantasy stats are probably off the charts. While "only" 280 yards through the air, he threw for 3 TD's, rushed for 53 yards, and caught 2 passes for 22 yards and a TD.
DJ at QB and CW at WR?
This is not a great team, but it is an interesting team to watch. I'll take 5-3 against bad teams any day!
Rome caught a pass from Kmet. Why doesn’t that show up in the box score?

Because he didn’t. He dropped it. Ball hit the ground.

Re: Bears thread 13
The NFC North is becoming very interesting. MIN has JJ back, for better or worse, and put themselves right back into the race by taking out the Lions on the road. The Packers lost to the mediocre Panthers and only scored 13 points, and have a lot of trouble stopping the run. The Lions still look like the favorites, but losing at home to a division rival takes a bit of the luster off their season. And the Bears at 5-3 are just half a game behind the Pack.
Should be an interesting second half of the season. Teams that can stay healthy have a big edge, as usual.

Re: Bears thread 13
I still think the Bears are a ways away from being contenders. We've struggled to beat really bad teams like CIN and LV. The WAS win was nice, but they're proving to be a pretty poor team this year, even with Daniels. The Cowboys win was probably the best of the season, but that was aided by a lopsided turnover margin.
When we start playing teams like the Packers, Eagles, Lions and Vikes, we'll see how good we really are. My guess is we'll likely struggle against those teams, although we could beat the Pack and Vikes as they have been pretty up and down themselves this year. But our defense just isn't good enough, esp. with the injuries. And ST are also a glaring weakness that becomes more noticeable by the week. We gave up a return TD, a recovered onside kick, and had a FG blocked this past week. Those kinds of mistakes often cost you wins.

That is probably some obscure NFL record. Number of teams that gave up a return for a TD, had a FG blocked, and had an onside kick recovered against them in a single game has to be pretty small. The number of teams to achieve that feat and still win (or lose depending on which side you are on) probably consists of two teams...Chicago and Cincy!

Our defense was s legitimately awful. It was mid going into the season, and now we have a bunch of our important players on IR. Maybe we can compete I shootouts, but we aren't going to see many defenses like the Bengals going forward. I don't expect us to win a lot of those games, but this isn't really the season to expect to compete on that level. Tbh I feel like we are a bit ahead of schedule, and that's very positive. We need to decide what we are going to do about the LT position, and really work on the defense this off season. If we pull that off then we can take a big step forward next year.
