Great to see some of my sleepers doing well. Austin Reaves, Ajay Mitchell, Aaron Wiggins... Sad to see Bub struggling this year but that may be due to his Dad passing recently. He and his Dad were very close...

6'11 PF Mouhamed Gueye was the Hawks leading scorer with 21 pts and 7 rbs in their win over the Lakers last evening.
This Mo (not to be confused with Mouhamadou Gueye of Hornets '24 SL) was selected by the Hornets in the 2023 draft but immediately traded along with draft rights to Colby Jones for James Nnaji.

He was a sleeper of mine years ago. People think I post MANY sleepers but MANY turn out GOOD lol.

BTW here was another sleeper of mine Will Richard who dropped a 30 piece the other night

I ain't NEVER seen a dude play as hard as him before. Tyler Hansborough did but not even him. He seems to be lacking a long range jumper and POLISH of a star but he works so hard doubt he can't develop it. Wouldn't be upset at all if he was the pick this year. Soo happy to be a TAR HEEL basketball fan this year. Sad I am not a HORNET fan and I am SO SO with the PANTHERS...

Side note I wish the TAR HEELS would play Isaih Denis. I think he has lottery potential

if mark stays healthy all year and keeps up this impact he's having on both ends for suns, i'm gonna be eating a lot of crow. i wont be too stubborn to admit i was wrong. but he needs to stay healthy, most importantly.
- he looks healthy
- he's actually impacting the game, huge net plus, not empty stats like last year
- good fit with booker

He was the top guy in the 2nd round that year I wanted. I don't know how he slipped that far with his measurables and college production. Ive been keeping an eye on him and am glad to see him break out.

His individual defense can still be lacking at times when hes against really physical guys. Zubac gave him some trouble at times (although a lot of his points were off team offense or against other defenders), but his team defense has been pretty solid with them so far, more like what he flashed initially in Charlotte.

Its pretty frustrating watching him on this Suns team though because Booker is the only one who knows hot to get him the ball and even then hes not really a lob passer.

Indeed. I’m also thinking…how many players who don’t work out here are doing much better on other teams? Mark no doubt was under motivated, nicked up and fell out of favor. But perhaps the failed trade, then lack of belief here, helped him get dedicated. SO frustrating.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Intrigued by what marks next contract is going to be, and more importantly how he plays after he gets paid.

FO probably would've been more eager to pay Mark if they didn't already have big money committed to one injury-prone franchise cornerstone.

That number predraft 1 pick crap be overhyped. Just about 10 games or so in but I think I would draft all of these players over Flagg if we redrafted now

It would be best imo for Dallas to look to trade Flagg or bring him off the bench. He doesn't imo have the potential to be THAT GOOD.

imo Not a great shooter, ball handling is average, not a great passer, rebounding is average, doesn't have a true position, not a high b ball iq, a bit slow footwork wise, his best attribute is probably on defense...

You know you are playing bad when ALL 4 OF THE HORNETS DRAFT PICKS are better than you by a decent amount.

Sad thing is there are a FEW MORE players I think I could have added in there who I think are better in this draft than him.

I like flagg and he is young, but I just don't see the potential. I hope they don't be too hard on him. I think his pre draft praise was deserved. I am not saying he doesn't have potential at all cause he does, but I think it can be better choices made by the Mavs in how to use him.

Flagg will be good, but I don't think he will be generational like many believed he would be.

Yikes.
https://www.cbssports.com/nba/news/mavericks-cooper-flagg-offense-starting-lineup/

The issue isn't just that the Mavericks don't have a quality enough point guard on the roster to make everyone's life easier. It's that this roster is void of any quality shot creators, playmakers, shooters or simply anyone who can force the defense to second guess anything.

Dallas is taking the most mid-range shots since the year before they traded for Dončić on draft night in 2018. Right now it's the only shot they can make, as they rank 30th in 3-point shooting and 26th in shots at the rim, per Cleaning the Glass.

Lonzo has played more games than LaMelo this season. I don't know if thats depressing or hopeful.

Return to Charlotte Hornets
