If Murphy is on the market we're not getting him, the Spurs or Pistons will come in with heavy offers.

Pelicans don't have there picks. Dumars trading for draft capital makes no sense. He will just be fired before he gets to make those picks.

Pelicans not having their pick this year isn't really relevant, they are going to have to tear down that team soon regardless and getting back picks for Trey will be pivotal. Zion's value is in the dirt, they will need to cash out on Murphy.

They have two players right now that they might be able to build with in Queen and Fears. Why would they give up their most valuable asset, to get back a player that plays the same position as their best young player (Queen).

because they want wins. I know its recency bias and KAT has had a rough start. But this idea that Murphy in a silo has more value than KAT just isn't accurate.

Now what the pelicans want is a different story. If they blow it up Dumars is going to get fired and making moves for the next POBO. I wouldn't put it passed Dumars to try something desperate to win games.

I don't see why they need to move Murphy at all. Honestly, I think the correct move from NOP would be to go all out cutting their losses on Zion and build up with Murphy, Fears, and Queen. Maybe Jones. Get whatever draft capital you can with everyone else and especially move Zion and Poole. They've got some pieces but they're not all ready and the assortment of pieces that they have doesn't work. IMO, they're not too far from having a decent core even if they've done a lot of dumb stuff. Zion's the albatross though because he was supposed to be their savior and he wasn't that guy but he still eats that role on the team, so to speak.

They're gonna do something dumb though. I can feel it in my bones.

KAT, Hart, Kolek, and Dadiet to NOP for Murphy, Murray, Looney and scraps. Murphy could start next to JB and Murray could move into the super 6th man role upon his injury return in January.

This is the most reasonable take. Trade Zion, Jones, and eventually Murray. Go all in with the kids that are showing promise but we all know Dumars might go win now mode…

I’d take Zion and Murphy for KAT and Hart…

I mean he at least plays. At least I can hope he turns it around. I don't want to hope for someone to make it on the court.
