Kingston Flemings
Didn't see a thread on him. A lot of combo guard types in this class (Brown, Burries, Thomas, Acuff) but other than Peterson, I think Flemings is my favorite, and the most likely to actually become a point guard. As of right now I have him all the way up to five, behind the big 3 and Caleb Wilson. Thoughts?

Re: Kingston Flemings
He is definitely not a combo guard. He's a point guard all the way. He has totally nerfed Milos Uzan, who is probably feeling the pressure of a freshman coming in and thoroughly outplaying him. This is now twice in two years of this (as Jeremiah Fears came in to take his job at Oklahoma last year and he transferred to Houston).
As for Kingston, I still think top-5 is kind of high. But it's mostly because I am still high on Karim Lopez. He's getting kind of an out of sight/out of mind from scouts, which I guess makes sense, but a 6'9 forward with his ball skills would be a higher priority for me than another small guard.
Now if you see Kingston as a future elite point guard at the NBA level, then maybe he needs to go higher. Because if there is one thing I can say about him, he's a great kid, who is incredibly coachable. And this is on top of being an excellent athlete, with the ability to get downhill. He's a lot like Fears in that way, without the video game handles though.

I love him. Reminds me of Fox. I think he's likely sub 6'2" barefoot and has slightly above average length and athleticism. Very mature game and is going to be a star in the NBA despite not having elite traits. Haven't done a mock yet but he's in that top 5 conversation and should be the 2nd point guard off the board.

I actually agree with all of this, Fox with maybe better shooting and a somewhat stronger frame. Right now he's top 3-4 for me. Honestly there's a case to be made for #1, because he might be the only true "engine" in this draft. I need to watch more DP to figure that out.

I think Peterson is just so much more physically and athletically gifted he'll have a little more success absorbing contact and getting to the FT line plus he's potentially an elite defender so I don't foresee Flemings passing him. But I could totally see someone taking as high as #2 though if PG is their biggest need. I think as far as who I enjoy watching the most this season it's Wilson and Flemings. What's cool is all of these guys are on teams that could make deep tournament runs so we're going to likely see them play each other in nationally televised games. Can't wait

Re: Kingston Flemings
I wish he was bigger and longer. He looks shorter than he is listed, doesn't look long, and he isn't big, sub 200lbs for sure, maybe sub 190lbs.
Those type of players just get abused on defense which for me severely impacts his value.
I do like him, will need to watch some more but for the above reasons I would be looking other places first with where some of you are talking about taking him.
Maybe the draft isn't that good and he should be that high, haven't looked at everyone close enough yet to say.

I was highly impressed with him, but I only watched him against Cincinnati up until now. I liked No Ceilings' comps for him, so I borrowed from both and gave him a Ty Lawson with Cason Wallace's size:

Re: Kingston Flemings
**Have only watched his games vs Syracuse and Auburn so far**
Plays very upright and has very little deceptiveness in his handle but has a pretty special combo of speed and ability to decelerate into his pull up. Good footwork and rise on it and is hitting that shot at a very good rate right now. Looks comfortable getting to it going both directions as well.
Doesn't look like a natural point guard to me...has been pretty turnover prone in pnr and I haven't seen any real point guard reads from him. He's young and has some potential super powers that even if he doesn't look like a quintessential lead guard, he could still be a co-lead ball handler on a team in time.
Physically he has a very narrow frame and not much length so I don't how much physical potential he has left to tap into. I also don't know how much I've learned about him defensively either considering Houston's heavy use of traps and post doubles. The off ball defense hasn't stood out, but admittedly the sample of those situations has been small.
Really question the shooting. Shooting really well off the dribble early, but pretty reluctant as a spot up guy and the misses at the free throw line have been troublesome...some big time left/right misses and one that barely grazed front rim. It's weird, his quirky mechanics smooth out quite a bit off the dribble, but in those more stagnant situations, it's hard to not think he's shooting well above his head right now.
So yeah color me skeptical on the top 5-6 hype, but it's very early.

Re: Kingston Flemings
I would say my short list of likes and dislikes for him based on limited watching and looking at his statistical profile.
Positives:
Lightning Quick and good bounce
Alpha Mentality- Uzan and Sharpe have already started to defer to him a good bit for a frosh
Pesky defender, high steal rate.
Negatives:
Low 3pt attempts - 2.6 per game (51% from 3 looks fraudulent)
Low FT attempts - 2.6 per game
Smaller size- no way he is 6-4. He looks the same size as nearly every guard covering him so I am going to assume 6-2 with a good wingspan is what you are hoping for. Also, weight wise he might be under 180 lbs.

Re: Kingston Flemings
As a die hard UH and im not being biased, but I think its time to put him in the top four discussion talk. The way he won the game tonight vs Tech was amazing.
He is so quick dribbling to the rim.
His shooting form wont be everyones cup of tea but he is shooting efficiently.
His defense is pretty good as well. Look at the chase down block he had tonight.

Definitely looks like a year where you want to land a top five pick. Five really exciting prospects to choose from. I really like this guy.

flemings might be my favorite coilege player, but nobody is taking him over caleb wilson, cam boozer, darryn peterson or aj dybantsa.
the top 4 are set in stone. no shame in being drafted 5th. i'm not sure you take him that early either, but that's his ceiling.

I’d take him over Boozer without batting an eye.

His midrange pull-up J is money and he can shoot it moving both directions so I am going to give him the benefit of the doubt on 3s despite the low volume.

I don't think Boozer is a lock to go over him like the other three. Flemings has some Rose to his game and a team that needs a PG and loses the Peterson sweepstakes is going to take him over a PF if that's not a need. Like if CHA, DAL, and MIL jump up and are sitting at 4 I could see them all taking Flemings over Boozer. I think Trae takes the Wizards out of the running but that was another team that might have done it though Boozer next to Sarr is low-key Boozer's best landing spot

I think Flemings and Wilson are in the same tier.
