My g/f first wanted to live in HP, but I laughed at her, then showed her how much the houses cost.

Everybody is probably more fake there than Ann Arbor.

Here is another fun factoid.

15.14% are asian :)

haha, thats a pretty funny blurb. overly-cynical I'd say, and definitely a stench of bitterness...but some truth.

Seems like a 'poor man's' Naperville huh?

Not sure if you ever made it out to Naperville when you lived in Rogers, but I'm imagining that from the reviews, especially after reading that overly cynical guy and his rant.

Of course the difference is Ann Arbor has the U which makes the eye candy a little better for the young folk and there's a lot less plastic in the upper regions of some women.

yesterday actually, I was in this little plaza waiting in my car for my lunch from a local diner to be ready. some younger female outside the diner was having a time of it with her mom, just literally shrieking at her mom. it was pretty clear it was about money, as I caught a couple bits like "MOM! I'M NOT GETTING SCHOLARSHIP CHECKS ANYMORE!@#"

but I couldn't help but laugh. aside from the fact that she was making a complete ass of herself, I can't help but laugh when I see some dumb bitch crying to her mom about money, with her Coach purse hanging from her forearm.

I'd say its similar to Evanston, actually. Except the nasty parts of Evanston, it doesn't really have anything like that. By comparison, the "bad" element around here is nothing compared to what you might encounter in a rougher Chicago neighborhood (or Detroit).

oh, I forgot to mention that the spoiled brat was talking on her expensive-looking cell phone, her mom wasn't actually there. I think thats what made it inappropriate more than anything else. like, do you really HAVE to have this kind of conversation here, under those circumstances?

yell at her when you're in the comfort/privacy of your car, house, or something. IMO it says something about a person who composes themselves like that in public.

Oh brother, I come across a lot of those. Like all my freakin' cousins. I could definitely see one of them involved int he same scene you mentioned.

I'll admit I grew up in a well-off family, but every single one of my cousins had it better. Because of that I realized that I shouldn't take it for granted and keep myself humble.

Actually right now, my Uncle bought two condos overlooking Millenium Park and my 3 cousins are fighting over who gets to live there.

One is a nurse that puts 80% of her salary to her 401K, the other is a Depaul student and my guy-cousin is starting at Loyala next year. It makes me sick! The oldest stopped talking to her younger siblings for a little while, which was quickly resolved when my aunt and uncle laid down the law and sorted it out.

The problem was, one condo was a one bedroom, the other was a two bedroom. I have two female cousins and one male cousin(the one starting school next year). The fight was about which one was going to live alone, the older one, or the male. The male-cuz argued that the girls should live together, while the oldest argued that she should get it since she's not in school.

Oh brother, I can't even fathom the fighting sometimes and I get so disgusted with it. If I didn't grew up with them, and wasn't so close to them, I'd probably stop talking to them because of this incident.

I mean, they get the apartment paid for, the bills, and even get credit cards for food. What else is there in life to pay for?

Now that I think about it, Ann Arbor is a hell of a lot like Evanston. There's your comparison. Particularly the farther North you go, start from Dempster Ave on up to Wilmette. Not really West Evanston so much though, mostly that northern area that runs along the lake/Sheridan Rd.

More apartment complexes though, and the expected student housing. But the off-campus atmosphere/housing is a lot like Evanston, less congested though.

This is very very very encouraging, 'cause my g/f loves Evanston. She wants to open a doggie daycare/training/grooming/vet there. Pretty much a Doggie one stop shop, so I'll have to tell her that tonight.
