So Redd + CV + Lottery pick for McGrady + Wells?
That sounds like an awful deal... The Bucks still won't make the playoffs with McGrady. He'll get hurt, like he always does and our supporting cast won't be good enough to keep us close enough to make a run when TMac comes back.
That deal could very well turn into Redd + CV + Derrick Rose for TMac + Wells...
I'm just really not willing to take that chance, regardless of TMac being a much better player than Redd.

Who did what with the which? When did he ask to be traded?
According to Bobby Simmons' friend, Villanueva has asked to be traded. No way to know if that's true or not but if we assume Simmons' friend is credible (and all indications thus far are that he is) then we can assume this report is accurate.
It's in the Z-Bo thread.

I really can't be hate CV for asking to be traded. He's a smart guy, he sees Yi as the future PF here. So anyway, I think CV would look pretty damn good in a Rockets Uni!

I don't blame him either. The writing has been on the wall since draft night. That said, having a player with serious motivational issues is a big enough problem. But when that player now doesn't want to play for your team any more it just makes the problem even worse in my opinion.
ETA - the player I'd love to get is Battier. I'd offer Redd/Villanueva/2008 first (Top 10 protected) for McGrady/Battier in an absolute heartbeat but I don't think the Rockets would go for it.

I agree with everything above. But I can't see them parting ways with Battier for only CV.

That's where the first-round pick would come into play. Still don't think they do it. The Bucks might have to add a little filler. I think Villanueva/Gadz for Battier works. Anyway, I doubt the Rockets would even consider parting with Battier for Villanueva. But that's my pie in the sky hope if the Bucks and Rockets are going to talk trade - get McGrady and Battier.

Haven't read this whole thread yet.. but I will say this. Trading for Tracy McGrady won't make CV, Bobby Simmons, Dan Gadzuric or Charlie Bell play more consistently. Thank goodness Charlie Bell is starting to turn things around.. But I fail to see how T-Mac makes CV, Bobby Simmons and Dan Gadzuric better contributors. Redd, Mo, Yi, Bogut.. aren't the problem here.. the problem is the supporting case. If we aren't upgrading the starting SF and backup PF then I don't understand the point of the trade. We will be the same inconsistent jumpshooting team we are now without those changes.

I think if the Bucks are hoping to use this trade as a means to truly strengthen a playoff run, then Wells is critical. If it's merely an attempt to change the face of the team and hope something new works better than the current situation than I'm fine with Redd/filler for McGrady.
Either way, I would be very happy acquiring Tracy McGrady.
That's where you and I differ. I don't think adding cancers to a team with chemistry issues and a rookie coach will improve the team. Even if the cancer is talented...

1 less year of Redd's deal (which is actually huge). Better "star" recognition in the USA and China.
I agree though, basketball wise, I don't think this does all too much for the Bucks.

As someone mentioned earlier, T-Mac can play the 3 (he is 6'8''). We'll be getting Mason back soon. And we can always package some combination of CV/Bobby/Gadz/picks in another trade to address the 3 and 4. No need to do everything in one move...

It actually might, if it improves the on court chemistry between the players, and if the coach sets them up in good roles relative to McGrady and Bogut.

Thanks for the head-u. I had avoided the thread because the trade was never happening and the thought of Randolph on this team made me want to dry retch. I'll brave the thread now though.

The pick is a huge selling point for me in this. I don't do it with a pick included, without a pick I'd do it.
McGrady is better than Redd obviously, but it's not like he's on the level of Wade/James/Kobe, etc. Remember that this guy has never won a playoff series, misses a lot of games, and every team he has left has gotten better after his departure.
Like I said, I'd take him over Redd, but it wouldn't make us significantly better like some think.

Production wise from the 2 (on a game-by-game basis), trading Redd for T-Mac is probably a step back. But chemistry wise, it could be a big improvement...

Only if your sole frame of reference for "production" is "how many points did he score", and even then I'm not convinced that McGrady on the Bucks wouldn't score more than Redd.

Bottom line is we need a change that will not hinder our future. As long as we keep the 1st round pick I am all for this deal. The team still will have no chance come playoff time, but at least we'll have something to look forward to until the draft and next season when hopefully Yi starts coming into his own. I would also prefer to keep CV, but it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world to trade him with redd for mcgrady and filler. BTW, if we do get T-mac i see boguts numbers staying like they have been the last 2 weeks... around 19/10, T-mac will help his overall game
