I think with Atkins it was a pressure thing. New team, unproven on this team for what he was brought for - reputation for shooting well preceding him. You never throw him in there - time runs out and playoffs are here anyway.
You would think the FO would bring in or keep another point guard just so all this time wasn't wasted. Atkins can have time to heal up, but if it's as Karl said it was imperative to have a pg that can space the floor that business would go on as usual and someone else would get that chance.
AC got that chance. AC/Atkins was the plan, why not AC/some other pg.
JR gets the minutes though, so at least there's an opening there.

They're different players, so that doesn't matter. Maybe Atkins was more ready to go. In any event, his job is to shoot 3's. Hunter's job demands a lot more on both ends of the floor.
Anyone who watched Atkins play, knows he was not ready to go, and he failed at his job of hitting threes.

I'm talking about understanding the flow of the game, where to be, his role, etc.
Anyway, again what happened with Chucky has no bearing on Hunter's situation.

Playing Hunter who is a good shot blocker minutes makes to much sense to Karl. He would rather play small undersize player who can not help this team.
Iverson, Iggy, Willie Green, Sammy D, Josh Smith, Rasheed and Ben Wallace, Larry Hughes Garnett, Francis, Lebron, Melo, K Mart, Wade, Amare, Q Richardson, T Mac, DC, and C Webb
