We need to get artest in the off-season. He should be a priority. We need a crazy guy like him, luke is soft, Lamar is dumb, and did you expect this laker team to win a title? Get artest mitch.

Nothing to get depressed about. I thought it was major coaching mistake. Maybe it's not a mistake, maybe it'll make our players stronger i dunno.

All I know is that surrounding Kobe with 3 guys who can't play off the ball (and a cold Fisher) is really a bad idea. You knew the Spurs were going to come out more aggressive in the 2nd half.

Phil should have pulled the plug early, but I guess it was one of his zen lessons.

We have to stop getting beat by bums like Udoka this game and Bonner the last time we was there. Phil coached a horrible game. This team is not experienced enough to weather runs like the one the Spurs had in the 3rd.

If we were more of a veteran team I'd be ok with letting them figure it out, but were not so a coach has to stop that run using time outs.

lamar, very predictably, got in the post. forced the action and drew some offensive fouls. the only legit one was a frustation push on odom the other ones were soft as heck. guy gets no respect from the refs. to his own detriment, odom immediately goes into an offensive shell and becomes rebound thief.

Lamar was getting the doubles but he wasnt passing it out to well ..

Kobe was the tale of two half's, and Fisher farmar and (like usually) Walton was Cold, frozen, off, whatever you wanna call it .. Kobe couldnt buy one tonight btw ... 9 to's but a couple were legit Hacks ...

Phil should have called 2 timeouts, .. 3 , however many it would have taken to stop that surge in the 3rd .. its like watching a helpless person get Mugged DO SOMETHING !!

Because Odom committed an offensive foul, got owned by Duncan, and generally looked inept anywhere on the court.

wow...do i need to go and check the trade check before I post trade idea?
i was saying with the other guys as a center peice

Relax Chief.

The point is LO's value is low now and his salary is high. Those players you listed are more valuable to their teams the LO would. So when you say as a " center piece" you are assuming that a) they would want to give up those players for LO and b) want to add more players to that deal, for LO.

When you are talking about Wilcox and Maggete you are talking about 5-6.5 million in "filler" for LO that makes a deal impossible.

So while its nice to say we could trade LO for X player , it would hold about as much weight if I were to say we should trade Vlad for David Lee.

Yes Kobe played horrible late game (9 turnovers), but to say our teamwork disappeared because of him? Did you watch the 3rd Quarter? He did what he did because no one was making anything? Again every point in the 3rd was made by Kobe except for the Fisher shot which happened to be an assist from Kobe. Kobe facillitating was the reason Lakers were so fluid early on. You rewatch the 3rd quarter and watch every possession that Kobe didn't touch the ball. It resulted in either a miss or a turnover.

Dude...did you watch the 3rd Q? Who took the first 4 shots without even looking to pass that got the Spurs back all the momentum?

Don't come with this BS that his teamates missed shots when they didn't even touch the ball until the momentum had officially gone all to the Spurs. This game was lost 3 and a half to 4 minutes into the 3rd.

^ +1

I'm not really buying the "supporting cast sucked" argument tonight.

Granted, Walton, Brown and Fisher were all poor, and it was always going to catch up to us eventually. But those guys were all out on the court for major minutes in the first quarter, during which we outscored the Spurs 27-23 and looked damn good doing it.

Besides, it wasn't like Kobe ran the offense for five minutes and went into bail-out mode after we bogged down. He was jacking up poor shots from the start, and it cost us dearly.

Walton was not even looking for his shots.....he has open shot...but he passes.....

Odom ...when he had finley on him.....what he does...he pushes him in the back......

This was completely inexcusable.

I don't expect Lamar to come out and give us 20 every night because he's simply not capable of doing it. He doesn't have the game, he doesn't have the mentality.

But when he's matched up against a player like Finley, I do expect him to be able to exploit it. Lamar never put himself in position to do so, and that was one of the many reasons we lost this game.

He showed a complete lack of poise tonight.

Hammer meet nail. It's just so damn frustrating watching lamar wallow in the shadows for an entire game. Especially on a mismatch like that.

Yeah even I would not trade Lamar right now. He has no stock left, what do you want in return a bag of peanuts?

Kobe tried to "close" the game at the start of the 3rd, like for what? Just do what worked in the 1st half.

Without Bynum, we are not good enough to be the elite right now. We have been hanging with them though. (suns and spurs).

The problem is right now at center, when we put in Kwame, we lose an inside presence on offense. We take out Kwame on D, and we lose an inside presence on D. Turiaf is a solid player, but he is no Bynum.

If we can split the 2 games against the mavs and go .500 on 9 game roadtrip, I think that will be okay for us.

Watching us tonight in the second half was kinda demoralizing.

What the hell happend to luke walton this season? This guy was bright spot on our team last year and now he gets his shot rejected twice a game and often looks lost on the floor. His basketbal game has regressed.
'
Sadly, if we had won tonight, we could have been 1st in our division as the suns lost.

... is this the place where everyone whines about why we lost?

Blah the refs...
Blah Duncan.... (yea he had a great game, but it was vs Kwame and an undersized Ronnie) you'd expect TD to get his.
Blah the line ups...(blame Phil)
Blah freakn Udoka?! (once again, make anyone post career high or looking like an all star)
Blah Kobe settling for jumpers and not getting to the FT line to stop their run in the 3rd

the game was there for the taking and we simply threw it away (with all the careless turnovers)

the bright side? only 7 days left until the DJ Mbenga era ends! I think its safe to say this experiment is over. The guy is worthless.... he looks like lurch running around looking for his lost contact lens. No skills, whatsoever.

DJ makes Kwame look like a basketball player.
