even if the wizards hang on to win it'll almost feel like a loss because they gave up so much to a crappy team.

Nick Young is looking better and better on defense. He's still not good, but he is no longer a liability either. I also like that he takes it to the rack strong anytime he gets a chance. When he puts on some muscle, he's is going to finish in traffic with regularity.

Haywood got fouled at least twice and ends up getting called for traveling.

Kudos to EJ for sticking with the 2nd unit these last 2 minutes. The game is probably still within reach for Memphis, but EJ is trusting the bench (and resting the starters).

Bad game for Daniels. 3 assists with 5 turnovers, and he has to be near league leader in ast/to ratio.

OTOH that kid Lowry has 11 points, 9 assists, 4 steals and 0 turnovers. He'd be a great starter for most teams and I am sure he's better right now than Conley overall.

All those Lowry trade ideas that had Young in them ... I think Lowry's even better than Young, (who I like in general).

Good win. We didn't play great by any means but well enough to beat a pathetic Memphis team.

Memphis was on a run and cut the lead to 7. EJ brought Butler back in and Butler decided to end the game. He got a couple of key boards, a blocked shot, a sweet dish to Jamison, and about 6 consecutive points and it was game over.

We cannot play like this against a team like Milwaukee who will light them up.

I don't agree with that. Lowry is a good change of pace guard, but he plays out of control and he doesn't possess good court vision nor a reliable jumpshot (shoots under 40%). He can outquick slower point guards like AD, but against most point guards it won't work.

He's a guy that can come off the bench, push the tempo, and play good defense, but it was pretty obvious to me that he can't "run" a good team.

yungal, I won't say you're not right because you probably are.

I agree that Lowry's not a good playmaker, whereas I think Conley's a great one. Conley is a true PG. Lowry is not.

However, Lowrly's such a disruptive defender, a fine rebounder, and tenacious player in general that IMO he's better Conley overall. Probably, Conley's just needing time to become a superstar and I'm just biased toward Lowry.

One thing is both guys are special talents. IIRC, Lowry already has a triple double.

Talk about playing to the level of your competition. What a sloppy game. If Memphis makes shots in the first half, this is a much tighter game. Really think the offense was terrible. No flow. Caron settling for jumpers and not getting to the line. Not sure what Stevenson was doing or AD. Fortunately Memphis was really bad without Gasol.

Odd rotations as well. Pecherov was horrible in the 2nd half; Songaila was ok in the first. At least he didn't hurt the team but I guess EJ felt that they were too quick. Blatche was Blatche. Not sure why Young didn't get some run in the first half. AD is begging to play with 3 fouls? It's not like the offense was great with him running the show.

At least we won but we have to play better ball on Sunday.

yup, that's exactly what happened and it's one of the defining characteristics of butler's season. i was at the game tonight, it was disjointed from the beginning. there wasn't much energy in the building at all. the huge lead made it a blowout early but, as has been said, it's not like the wiz were really executing all that well. the grizzlies -- mostly kyle lowry -- lured the them into an uptempo, freewheeling game in the second half and once mike miller and la bomba hit some shots they were back in it. it was shaky for just a moment or two before you realized butler had it under control and everything was ok.

kyle lowry is really something else. he can't shoot and he's an average playmaker, but man can he put his head down and get to the hoop on offense and get in your face on D. and nothing dirty or flashy, just good, strong play. you probably need four really capable scorers to be able to get away with him as a starter, but he's fun to watch.

Horrible ballplaing tonight, I am thankful that Pau didn't play tonight/

The Cavs got beat by a last second shot tonight. The Cavs beat SA, and almost knocked off the Suns tonight. No-doubt the these are the top East contenders right now.

1st tier
Detroit
Cleveland
Boston

2nd tier
Washington
Toronto
New Jersey

3rd tier

Yea don't get me wrong by my post...I like Lowry too. He plays hard, and he doesn't give an inch to no one. He's just wouldn't be a good fit for the Wiz in my opinion. He'd be good with the Suns though...that's fo sure.

So with Arenas back would we be better than Cleveland? Would we have a shot against Detroit? Because of course we would mop the floor with Boston.
Help us, Obi-wan Leonsis. You're our only hope.

Cleveland is not 1st tier. It's Detroit, Boston, and everyone else.
