JJ's Limbo...
While JJ is in no position to demand a trade IMO, I can understand his frustration. Not only his frustration but Otis's frustration as well. The catch 22 is that JJ knows he can play, Otis knows he can play and wants him to play, Stan knows he can play but wont let him play.(for now anyways) .
So whats the solution. Trade him and watch him come back and score 30 points on us or let him sit on the bench and strengthen his defence to the level of Kebo, Dooling. It seems a long long way for him.
What are your thoughts.

This whole JJ thing has me so frustrated.
I just can't buy the argument that his defense is that bad. Particularly because he hasn't played enough this season for anyone to really make an educated comment.
Bogans is not that good of a defender. He's average at best. He's not that quick, he's not that strong, and has given up so HUGE nights by good players. Don't get me wrong, I like Bogans.....as a back up/role player much like his role now.
I think JJ just brings a totally different element than Evans/Bogans on the offensive end. He's high paced, and runs lots of back door screens much like Reggie Miller that help to tire the other player out. Bogans/Evans are very static at times and sit in the corner which allows that defender to cheat over to the paint or catch his breath.
All I want is 10 games of 10min or more with JJ playing. That way we can all get a true gage on his abilities and trade him or play him and move on with this subject.

couldn't have said it any better, Rip Hamilton killed us coming off of Rasheeds screen all not for pop a shot and he is not known for his defence either. That is what I have always expected of JJ. we might not always need his 3 point range. As far as Im concerned we have too many 3 point shooters and 0 consistant midrange shooters and JJ can be that person for us. Imagine him coming off of Dwight screens for 15 footers. I can book him for 15 points each night. but the question is do we need his 15 points at this time. I mean its not like we are searching for points most of the night. so may be we are better off trading him for a PF or a PG.

I think JJ's D probably is as bad as advertised. Thats why he doesn't hit the floor. Evans and Bogans when open can hit shots, they aren't supposed to be on his level offensively, but they play D. I disagree with those who say Bogans is an average at best defender, he's actually a solid defensive player, but yeah, the dude is slow. Bogans is however pretty strong. Anyone who thinks Redick can compete with Evans and Bogans on a strength level is nuts. Redick is weak, and not fast enough to be a Miller type in the NBA. Miller in his heyday was a freaking gazelle busting through people to get open. JJ doesn't have that.
You look confused...let me fill you in.

I agree with Reddog. It is so frustrated, this whole JJ thing. When he is in, he usually average a point a minute. Even Stan says that he practices well and that Stan wrestles with when to play JJ everyday. How could the Magic not give JJ a chance. 10-15min/game is all I am asking for too. You guys are right...Bogans' D is overrated. I like him to, but you can't tell me that JJ wouldn't be more effective on the floor.

Yeah you are right Max Power. Bogans and Mo are strong dudes. And both are better defensively that JJ. Reggie was faster than JJ, you're right on that too. It just seems as though JJ was born to play with Dwight. His game is tailer made to work alongside him. I don't know. I'm kind of at a loss for this situation already. It's crazy that he is effective and he just doesn't play at all.

From the Sentinel:
I can see the logic in this. We don't have problems scoring 100pts, what we do have problems with is guarding SG's and SF's and rebounding. JJ can't help with that at all. I'd hate to see him leave, but barring injury to MO or Bogans, he's just gonna have to wait until we get the right pieces to fit him in the system.
He's not playing because the Magic need defense and rebounding at his shooting-guard spot. Van Gundy says that Evans and Bogans are simply better at those tasks than one of the most prolific shooters in college basketball history.

Whether you think you CAN or you think you CAN'T, you're right.

Much ado about nothing. He's a rookie and he can be frustrated all he wants. He'd rot on the benches of a lot of the current playoff teams. He's got no defense and if he ever put up 30pts on us, he'd surely give up 40 on the other end. He's best suited for a team that struggles putting up points, fortunately thats not us. I say trade him. We already have Bogans under contract and Evans who is dying to come back, as well as still needing a starter at the position. There isn't enough room for him imo.
