In an ideal world I would want the NBA to adopt a teired system like the Euroleague.

If you are at the bottom you drop into B league for the next year. If you win B league you get to go back up and compete with the top teams.

It would never happen, but that would really punish teams who thought of tanking.

The tiered system would never work. Plus, it doesn't exactly fix the tanking issue. If you know you're in a rebuilding situation that will take 2 or 3 years, who's to say that a team doesn't tank in the first year to grab a top pick and maintain the same schedule??

I say throw the same amount of balls into the ping pong machine. Either you're a playoff team with a chance to win the title or you're a bad team/mediocre team that needs help and so they should all have the same chance.

that does stop tanking but it's going to result in the creation of random powerhouses. the conspiracy theorists will be out in full force.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

hey Freshie: I never said they were tanking, but they definetely quit and have been a horrendous organization. I mean come on- they got Bogut at number 1, TJ Ford and Yi all in the top 10 in the last 5 yrs......

they quit last yr and are doin it again this year. Not TANKING, but def not goin out of their way to win.....

(im just pissed that an organization that keeps losing, gettin lottery picks and screwin up is being rewarded cause they gave some sick max contracts to soft often injured players--

I mean Mason??? Redd's contract?? an an owner who is unbelievably cheap.

lets penalize a team like us who goes out and competes everynight w a bunch of avg young players... jus pisses me off.

TGP: If what you're proposing were to be practiced, teams who were in the 7-8 seed (especially in the east) might lose two or three games late knowing they have a 10% chance (??) at getting the ODEN, DURANT type player, pick.

it wouldn't be bad teams tanking, but "almost runs" losing. If I had to choose, i'd prefer the Memphis' and Seattle's of the world to tank rather than say NJ this year (they could keep J Kidd and try to go after Beasley or whatever piece they might be missin)

I prefer to do what the system was intended- help bad teams get better, but do it thru "fair' play.

now im sure there could be loopholes in what I proposed too, but they are much more unlikely. I mean even an unbalanced schedule might only mean 2 games or so.... yeah it might make a difference but not nearly as extreme.

do you remember how bad it was when Orlando won the lottery 2yrs in a row.... the NBA was mortified.

split the season in two; and rank those teams who aren't in the running.

if a team is an absolute seller at the deadline, it only affects one half of the season, the organization has to take responsibility for that AND for the "coaching decisions/style of the team.

if a team's star suffers a pretty severe injury, most often it only affects half the season-- its not like streak last yr during Paul Pierce's injury was a true litmus test of Boston--it would have only changed the "points" they got for the 2nd half.

same w Seattle (ray allen) and Milwaukee (redd) and others:

im trying to figure out a way "around" my LOTTERY scenario. its not really hard to implement and track..... and it is in the spirit of the game, intention......

That is the easiest solution. They used to do that when the lottery was 1st implemented. The 7 teams that missed the playoffs got one envelope that was placed into a drum. That is how the Knicks ended up with Ewing.

Sure... the Knicks got the "frozen envelope" treatment and the league prospered. Either way, I think equal chances means that games in March and April will have more integrity.
