Best Playoff Matchup?

Post#1 » by Don_eMOCION#31 » Sun Feb 10, 2008 7:47 pm

Tell me your opinion about who is our best playoff opponent in your eyes. Tell me why do you think so...

Maybe ___ are because we know how to beat them? or ___ because this is an interesting matchup? or ___ because we want to take revenge.

Things like that for example! I'm really interested to hear your opinions.

My matchup wish would be Utah in the first round because i think this would be a very interesting and physical matchup against one if not our only rival. Should be very much fun to watch a 7-game series of them + i think we can beat them in 6 games ;)

4-2 Denver!

Best will be vs Utah, but Nuggets/Utah will not finish in 5th place for it to be a playoff match up. Realistically, vs Hornets due to their playoff inexperience.

I am going to say Dallas. Why? Becuase we dominated them with Melo healthy No nene or Atkins...Then with nene, atkins, and Melo out we only lose by 5. Not to mention both of those games were @dallas.

dallas first. i like our defense against dirk, and we seem to play well against them for some reason.
utah second. with a healthy nene we should be able to control boozer for a series, as well as the interior/glass in general.
phoenix third. iverson/melo should be able to get shaq & stoudemire into foul trouble every game...and now that they won't be pushing the pace so much i like our chances more.

least favorite would be
lakers
spurs
hornets

too much shooting, great coaching and penetrating guards.

i agree that the mavs could be an easy matchup. they seem to struggle against our type of defense as the player matchups seem to be in our favor too :)

Dallas, unless, of course, Kidd was traded to Dallas. They just don't seem to have our number, whereas Phoenix, LA, NO, SA all seem to sneak up and win or dominate over the Nuggets. GS would be a wildcard which, if we had Artest.....could become the ideal matchup.

Assuming we make it, I would say the Warriors or Mavs. I think we match up pretty well against the Warriors.

What team on the list do you guys think would give us the most problems?

Spurs, always seem to beat us

Lakers, they swept us

Dang, every team on that list is decent and there are already 8 teams on it. We need a good long winning stretch to keep us on the list.

I figured out all this team needs in the playoffs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Check out this stat line, and it wont matter who they play they will win (maybe lol, but they do have a great chance period.) In addition to last nights 27 pts, 8 rebounds, one assist and one steal in the blowout victory over cleveland (which i met melo, ai and everyone at), melo is shooting a red-hot 55.3% from the field, including 53.8% from the three point line, and 94.3% from the free throw line, so now it looks very wise that he took that time off, which we can all admit was needed since he has been playing since the beginning of last season nonstop and if this continues, mvp, the scoring title, and the main goal, which is the nba championship, is obtainable.

In order, I think the Nuggets would match up well against

NO
Dallas
Utah
Phoenix
LAL
SA

Not including GS or Houston, b/c I don't think its realistic that we would have a first round matchup agaisnt either of those teams.

However, I think the most entertaining series would be against Utah.

this is off topic, but I would love to see a lakers/suns matchup again this year. that rivalry is reaching epic proportions with Shaq playing for phoenix now...

better put the rockets #1 on your list.

t-back is cursed to forever lose in the first round.

rockets
jazz
warriors
mavs
etc.

NOT:

spurs
hornets

Give me the Rockets. A 1st round curse will be broken, Yao/T-Mac or Melo.

Just kidding. I would like to face Golden State. The easiest rival and a good matchup IMO. But I see them as the odd-team out the playoff picture

t-mac = 10 years in league
yao = 5 years in league

melo = 4 years in league (complete years)

don't put melo in the same category as those chokers...especially t-back...since he's played in the leastern conference and with homecourt advantage (3 times).

If we don't get past 1st round this year, he will be included on that group. And as much as it hurts me, deservedly so (at least at Yao level, T-Back's status is a loooong way to go), because he's the franchise player, the face of the team that can't get out of the 1st round with a GOOD supporting cast. The team (and he) didn't deliver it especially against Minnesota and Clippers (CLIPPERS), and if this year happens, we will run out of excuses.
