Problem is, looks like the FO is serious about making a run for the playoffs.

Sounds like 3M more under the cap. That is enough to throw the max at a RFA- so I guess sign me up.

BTW- if we send our Utah #1 that would mean that the Sonics got 3 #1's in their Thomas deal with the Suns. Along with KVH's sudden 4M windfall, What a joke the CBA/Cap has become...

I'm ALL for that rumor sixerfan1976. That seems like a win-win (playoffs and cap space).

By the way, now that the Nets have acquired Devin Harris, shouldn't Ed Stefanski be on the phone wiith his main squeeze, Rod Thorn, about the availability of Marcus Williams (my boy)???

It would seem to me that Marcus is now available and so I wonder how much Stefanski liked him in the year and a half he was around Williams.

Im with you guilty. Perhaps a Carney for Williams exchange to rectify billys mistake. Add a 2nd rounder maybe?

I believe the issues that came out of Boston were Boston fans saying that they wouldn't want to part with both Jefferson and Gerald Green with Green being the player they were more reluctant to give up. Either way, I don't believe there were actual reports saying Boston didn't want to do that trade but that it was Billy King and the Sixers who balked at it.

Either way, this is all spilled milk and I'm done crying about it. It's time to get excited about the 2008 Playoffs.

Bring them on...it's about time that spring basketball is exciting. The worse thing about it is that after every Sixers loss I will be mad as hell (not good for a marriage lol) as where all year I didn't expect them to win and if they did I was pleasantly surprised.

Noone- you keep beating me to the posts. Great (or at least decent) minds think alike- yours just is a bit quicker.

If we get Kurt Thomas... I believe I will have to make a couple more pitchers of Kool-Aid because everyone is gonna want it.

OH YEEEEAAH!

What has Williams done to say that Billy made a mistake?

I think it's more a lack of what Carney has done. We have a glut of wing players anyways. Williams would have filled our needs much better.

Williams had a decent rookie season and was injured for most of the first half of this year. Williams addresses a need (young PG to groom) whereas Carney is just filler on this roster. Carney has a chance to develop into a nice role player off of the bench but he's not a starter.

Williams, on the other hand, has a chance to develop into the PG of the future for the Sixers. I think it's at least worth exploring but I'm positive Ed knows ALL about Marcus Williams and what he can and can not do.

I may have to see if I can finds some quotes by Stefanski about Marcus Williams. If I do, I may post them here.

I found a quote by ED when I did some research:

"Marcus Williams Loves Kool Aid."

All of that is speculation. To say that King made a mistake implies that Williams will be a better pro than Carney. No one can say that for certain right now.

Fair enough Lou. But Marcus fits better on our team right now. And he was the better fit before the iverson trade as well

I do believe Hell is getting a bit chilly and may be freezing over right now because.... I agree with IggyTheBEaST.

Williams was the better on draft night and is the better fit now. That doesn't mean that Carney isn't or won't be the better the player but I have more faith in Marcus Williams becoming a key contributor to this team's future than I do in Hot Rod Carney.

Okafor isn't worth the max but that's what it will take to even have a shot at Charlotte not matching a deal for him. I was hestitant before the season about this but given that he's remained healthy and had a lot of monster games this year... I would do it now.

That said, Charlotte isn't letting him walk. If anything, they'll do to us what New Jersey did to Denver when K-Mart signed a max deal with them. They'll threaten to match the deal and hold us at ransom if we really want him. Didn't Denver end up trading 3 first round picks for Martin?

Moving Green gives us more cap room tihs summer yes.

Keep expectations realistic this week..small moves that will help us til end of year. Thats what you will see. We wont take on a contract unless its a stud player..and that player either isnt available or we dont have the bullets to trade for that player. This summer is the impact transaction..not now.
