not to be an inconsiderate tool about the situation or anything, but whats the hold up with nene?? if he isnt going through chemo and all needed was surgery, why cant he back by april or the playoffs? i dont get it? how much time does he need? and look if i am completely out of line here about the cancer situation, please someone enlighten me. i honestly have no idea what the procedure for is for a situation like this. im just curious why its not possible for him to come back late in the season.

From what I remember, they are trying a different approach. They weren't specific about what that approach was, but Karl had a little bit of hope Nene might be able to get back before the playoffs.
My guess was simply that they are doing something effective to hold off the chemo until the Summer, all the while monitoring it. So, anything could still happen, but you know positivity and plenty of rest is what Nene probably needs. Again, that's just a guess.

He's gettin Chemo
DENVER -- Denver Nuggets forward Nene is scheduled to undergo a single chemotherapy treatment next week as part of his recovery from testicular cancer.
The team said in a news release Thursday that the treatment is preventative and that it "essentially eliminates the odds of a recurrence."
The 25-year-old Nene had surgery last month to remove a malignant tumor. He took an indefinite medical leave of absence from the team Jan. 11.
The team says Nene will have a short period of recovery after the chemotherapy on Tuesday, but there's no timetable for his return to the court.

Sounds like we should expect to see him by the end of the year. Hopefully we can hold on for that long. He would be a big addition.
Karl said more will be known this week on Nene after the center-forward has had time to recover from Tuesday's chemotherapy.
"I don't know how far away he is from being on the court," Karl said. "I'm just hoping to get him in the locker room on a daily basis and make the next step."
While Karl hopes Nene will return from testicular cancer to play again this season, he first must be seen "in the gym."
"We're ready to move to another step, but that step doesn't mean he's going to play," Karl said.
Personal manager Alex Santos said Nene is recovering well and chemotherapy should result in a "near zero chance" of the cancer returning.
