1. A.I. is already the pg. He has the ball the most and call the plays. AC is just there
2. Carmelo or Artest at sg doesn't make a difference. Artest will still guard the best perimeter player and Carmelo will take the weaker one. Don't say Artest can't play sg because "he can't keep up with the sg for a whole game." He guards sg/sf every game depending on who is the better player.
3. Artest jack shots. Ok, so does our whole team

The way I see it, AI and AC split PG duties, AI when it gets down to crunch time, and Carter to start the game. Hell, tonight from what I have been told, JR was playing as much point as AI, what does that tell you? AI has always been more effective as a SG, while only taking over PG duties in crucial situations. Thats why his best years came playing alongside Eric Snow.

Even if rotation issues were not the problem, I do not see him being a good fit. We need someone who can consistently stretch the floor, and if we traded Najera and Kleiza (2 of our top 3 perimeter shooters), we would actually be shrinking the floor, since Artest is about a 32% 3 point shooter.

As far as Artest pounding the ball and forcing the offense when it breaks down, I would not say our entire team does the same thing, but even if they did, I don't find that as a good excuse to add another player who does the same thing.

Lk is shooting 35 % from 3pt line this season and Artest is hitting 35.8% going into the games 2nite.

considering moving Artest into the starting lineup would either move AI to PG or Melo to PF and cause rotation problems

Carter played less than 14 minutes against Chicago. Who played the point the other 34 minutes in the game? Was the offense any worse with Carter at the point as opposed to the 34 minutes with Iverson?

Carter plays 30 mpg. Iverson handles the point for the other 18. Has the offense really looked worse to you with Carter at the point versus Iverson?

I was unable to see the Chicago game unfortunately, so I cannot speak about the specifics of what happened tonight. I have heard however that JR actually spent a considerable amount of time playing point.

Other than that, I do not believe I am understanding your final paragraph correctly. Are you saying that you believe Carter and AI have been playing point at about the same proficiency? Or that AI has been performing much better?

Overall, I do know that AI is at is most effective, playing the 2, and switching over to PG when necessary. His best years in Philly came with Eric Snow in the backcourt, handling the bulk of the PG minutes, and thats what I would prefer he do here. I guess, the ideal situation for me would be to have AC play 20 minutes at point, AI to play 12, and JR to play 16 or so. Then when Chucky comes back, to take about 15 overall.

I still stick by my original point, that moving Artest into our lineup, would make AI our full-time PG, which is not exactly ideal, and not maximizing his abilities. That, or we move Melo to PF, which only works extremely well in FIBA play.

Listen....Melo wanted a trade because he and Iverson are getting sick of going against double teams and box and 1 defenses. They are frustrated becuase Karl will not play someone who cant prevent this, JR. Then Karl blocks a trade that the FO and players wanted. Some of the players are pissed at Karl now...hows that for good team chemistry and a great reason to stand pat. Anyone watch how Melo played tonight ,like someone depressed and with no energy...Glad we kept Kleiza, defense was steller tonight and his 0 points in 19 mins was impressive..

I would approve the PR work if they send Karl a big greetings card from 90% of us that reads:

FCUK YOU!!!!

 I hope next year we have a new coach.

When did the players start making front office decisions? When did those same players ever make deals that worked. Ask Kobe how that worked for him in LA, if he had his way they would still be an average team.

Players should not be making the decisions on personel. As for being frustrated going against the box and one and doubles, maybe Melo and AI should both pass more, and quit pounding the ball, besides that anybody who thinks Artest would have improved the offense, needs to actually watch a few games or Artest. I know some of you may have to stay up past your bed time to do it considering he is on the west coast, but our offense would be instantly worse then it is now, and having to move Melo or AI out of position negates most of the effects of adding Artest on defense.

I want AI & Melo to pass more also, but first before that happens I want to see more people moving without the ball and getting to places on the court they can actually see and pass safely. When Melo's on the block, there is absolutely no one except Kleiza on the far weak side.

There's never anyone running or swinging around to come get the ball and refresh it or take over.

I agree, however I am tired of people crying over how much we need new people, we have plenty of talent, this team just does not use it, and does not work together. Bringing in a guy like Artest is not going to change that, and letting any players decide personel moves should be grounds for firing the front office if you ask me.

rebel, I understand that Melo and AI are playing to much one on one, but as mentioned if there is no one running and cutting and making themselves available for a pass, the way Najara does, of course these guys are going to hoist shots. Now whos responsiblity is that to make sure the offense is designed well. The last time I checked it was the coach and the players have every right to be disappointed in the coach for this, just as the coach has the right to be pissed at a player for not running the right plays. As far as players not making personell decisions have you heard of Magic and Jordan lobbying for players..I understand the coach has the right to lobby for his own players and help in FO decisions but your stars are also part of your team. This is a team and what matters is that one person (Karl) doesn't get the final veto to decide not to improve the team. To the comments that there is enough talent on this team to win in the playoffs, I agree to a certain extent, and then if we don't when shouldn't it be Karl's fault for not meshing this together. WIth or without Artest or whoever Karl is syaing we have enough talent to win. Then he better pull it together and make it happen. Creating zone defenses that suck ass and isolations without cutters or picks isn't good coaching and is not going to get it done.

noone, there is a noticeable difference in the offense....because carter's man just sits with a foot in the paint and doubles whoever comes in, or doubles melo if he has the ball in the midpost. and he doesn't convert on his wide open 18 foot jumpshots. running any offense 4 v. 5 is very difficult. you can see it in cleveland with eric snow, san antonio with jacque vaughn and a couple other places (dallas before harris could hit a jumpshot). the only thing carter brings to the table offensively are long outlet passes...typically to kleiza, and 50% of them are tipped or go awry in one way or another.
