If karma mattered in getting championship banners, the Pistons wouldn't have at least two, the Patriots wouldn't have won three Superbowls, and the Yankees wouldn't have more championships than God himself.

The pats and their fans had it coming to them, that was karma. The yankees, well I'm a yankees fan :). As for the pistons, well look how things have turned out after the brawl.

Back to the original topic...i dont post much, but have watched these threads for the last couple of years..and i got to tell ya, when I read the title for this thread I laughed a long while. Cuz seriously, every year, its the same thing with rocket fans. There are always, ALWAYS, threads come playoff time, talking about "Are the rockets contendors yet!?!?" "Rockets in the finals!?!?!" and each time its the same thing, people yacking about how finally, FINALLY, tmac has the supporting cast to go all the way. blah blah blah. It happens every single year. Pay attention and you will see what I mean.

on the Derek Fisher thing, wholly ****, everyone needs to stop preteding like they know the guy. I mean, Im pretty sure, NOBODY on here knows the guys true intentions. None of you know him. Everyone needs to stop pretending he is this amazing guy, or is a horrible dude. It could go either way! Who knows! k...so people boo'd him. When it really comes down to it, all of you know as little bout his true motives as those who boo'd him. maybe they were right, maybe not. none of you have had a chat with him, none of you are his pals. ya the media tells ya whats up, but if you take everything they say for absolute truth, well i kinda feel bad for you...

P.S. if somebody on here is like his cousin, and really does know him, haha. well then i take it back..

and another thing...people need to cut utah some slack on here. i mean they have got to be bashed more than any other team. sometime for good reason. but the sad thing is, half the time its not even basketball related. i have read soooo many posts on here from people bashing utah because of how mormon the state is, or how they would hate to live here. tons of people posting that crap. i dont care that people believe it, but it has NOTHING to do with the basketball or the utah jazz. i mean how religion and basketball got mixed up is beyond me. but people bring it up... all im saying is look at it from a jazz fan point of view. not only do jazz fans have to defend their team, but have to defend against all the anit-mormon comments, all the "i would hate to live there" comments, just stupid stuff like that.

Yes. That being said, I'm just going to call a truce and just try not to respond to that or this thread or anything else....which will probably last until the playoffs :)

Play_Smart, that was wack... why did you feel the need to say that?

Disagree with what he's saying but I don't see what he could've had done to warrant that comment.

Anyways, to get back on topic...

No, the Rockets won't even sniff the WCF this year. However, I'm really getting fed up with the smack talk from Mavs/Spurs fans (not only on RGM, but my friends as well). Anyone who's neutral would AT LEAST understand that Houston is only 1 game behind Dallas, 2.5 games behind SA, and 4 games begind New Orleans. In the unlikely event that we beat the Hornets tonight then we'd only be 3 games behind the #1 seed.

We don't surprise with any big names (outside of Yao and Mcgrady) but our role players have been doing a fine job this year. We're not a top dog in the WC, but if we were in the EC we'd be tearing it up (which isn't saying much, but I suppose at this point I'll accept it as a consolation prize).

dang....your right, this thread was started by a laker fan, haha my bad. i mean i still stick to what i said, i think every year, more than most fans, rocket fans are always talking about this being their year. its just my opinion, nothing life changing. but i was wrong about this thread, i totally overlooked that it was started by a laker fan. haha, see but i can just laugh at my mistake, you on the other hand, one mistake, and its "dont post on the boards anymore!!" haha you need to relax. there are better ways to go about correcting someone.

We...don't really do that that much. You are absolutely right, though, that on our board (and I'm sure almost every team's board is the same) we ask every year if we are true championship contenders. And every year, the more rational of us agree that we have a shot, but its not a good one, and we aren't a top dog.

Mostly, we get fed up with how much disrespect our team gets, both from other teams' fans, and from the national media. Houston, despite being the 4th largest city in America is a relatively small sports market. We get very little media attention, and its noticeable even on nationally televised channels like ESPN and TNT that they generally talk about the other team a lot more than us, whether they are any good or not doesn't really matter (Van Gundy, aside, for obvious reasons)

Tmac hasn't made it out the 1st round. Its got to be one of the most frequent quotes on this board. Its also a really lame, generic, quote, that while true, is largely irrelevant. I don't want to turn this into a vindication thread, I just want to see the Rockets afforded some of the respect their play deserves.

With the exception of the Jazz series, which was considered generally pro Rockets but a close matchup by most national sports geeks, Houston (and Tmac) have NEVER been favored (or in the Orlando days, even considered relevant) to win a playoff series. We lost a game 7 down to the wire that out-executed us last year. But it was a good, well fought series.

The West has gotten even better than it was last year. We are currently on pace to win 52 games and are tied for the 7th seed, which is ridiculous.

If Houston makes it through March, beating a bunch of Western playoff teams...I think they are relevant. But just like every year, we can't smack talk, because we don't have any success. And in general, we don't. But it gets really old when fans from teams like the Jazz (who, by the way, have won no championships) hijack threads having nothing to do with them, and proceed to smack talk like they've won anything.

Good job Utah. You've beaten us while our best player didn't play, and we smashed yours at full strength earlier this season. You guys really, really don't have any ground to stand on concerning smack talk. Keep it on your own board, for Pete's sake.

Sure our schedule has been easy lately. As someone pointed out, I incorrectly described us as the best team of 2008.

Despite all the trash talking and laughing going on in this thread, both the Lakers and Rockets continue to steamroll.

The Rockets are winning still even though everyone was laughing at me for calling on them and the Lakers to step it up.

Rockets in WCF? T-Mac's teams can't even get out of the first round, I think WCF would be a stretch.

Lakers vs. Hornets is much more likely.

I really like your words and agree 90% if the things Lakers_4_Life, but it was not fair to say (pages ago) that the rockets forum on realgm have fans without any idea of basketball, rockets board have 5 or 6 great posters there who for sure know about the game and know what is happening in they're own team. the problem is that there many rocket fans here and after some years of failures, some of them become a bit bipolar and sometimes see the things too pessimistic.
The key for the rockets was obviously find people who can SIMPLY score, as much as i love chuck hayes, he is not the right player for the team and with the explosion of landry he will be only a player for specific plays, a player like hayes don't fit in adelman system, now it's scola/landry, people who have much more individual talent.

I didn't understand the people who missed JVG in the first 2 months of the season, i have been excited about the idea of see adelman coaching my team since probably 2006. and it's now when we see the results of rick adelman, not in the first 2 months, i can't see rockets getting into the second round of the WC THIS YEAR because is still his first year anyway and i can't see rafer alston playing this good all the season and in the playoffs, but i see the rockets with 60 wins NEXT SEASON (the same adelman did in his second year with the kings) and then become contenders to reach the western conference finals.
ATM suns and lakers are the best teams of the nba, then come another group of 4 or 5 great teams.
