Why it's worked so well for Van Gundy. Seriously. This whole thing is a mess and should have been delt with at the trading deadline. Redick should play. I've said from the start that this is about Van Gundy's personal relationship with Redick. Nothing more.

Thats my thought exactly. Otis knows JJ might not make it into the rotation and knows he won't play, so the only way to gauge his interest/ trade value is publicly say he's not trading him and he yada yada means alot to this team, rather in reality he is expendable.

That only makes sense if he would've traded him before the deadline after making those comments. Now he's waited too long, as usual, and J.J.'s value has plummeted because other teams know we have to trade him and our coach refuses to play him. In other words, you're giving Otis way too much credit.

I think this is a sign of a clash between GM and coach. Remember, one of the reasons B. Hill got fired is because he refused to play J.J. So Otis wants J.J. to play -- the coaches don't. Otis considers him untradeable because Otis thinks he has potential -- the coaches don't. And most importantly, if we trade J.J. Otis is 0-for-3 with first-round picks.

If J.J goes to another team and plays well then Otis wasn't 0-3. This is Stans trade, that Stan is forcing. Otis shouldn't take any blame if J.J is traded.

Thats fine but don't blame Otis when he's forced to trade J.J and J.J show's he can play basketball with another team. This is Stans deal.

a) JJ not playing is not something new - been happening all season.
b) It would be reasonable to conclude that SVG and Otis have discussed the situation leading up to deadline.
c) It would be reasonable to expect that Otis is aware of SVG's issue with JJ.
d) It is therefore unreasonable, from outward appearances, that Otis viewed JJ as untouchable at the deadline.
e) It is therefore reasonable to blame Otis :naaa:

Is Stan's only issue his defense? Or is there something else I'm missing?

From the quote I would imagine there are deeper issues.

I think Stan is going to be here a long time and his philosophy and my phillosophy don't really go together," Redick told Hirozawa.

who cares about jj redick anymore. we have 40 wins, he has contributed in less than a quarter of those. the only reason he gets pub any more is cuz he's white america. and the media draws on that. dude was great in college but if BH AND SVG dont have room for him in our rotation then he just doesn't fit. JJ sit down and shut up FOR GOOD.

he will be an excellent Euro Baller in 3 years.

The mystery continues.

It really is baffling.
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

Hopefully we use him and/or Fran to move up in the draft and select a player that we like that is slipping.

i think that if the magic do keep him for whatever reason next year will be his year to play since we wont have that huge back log at the guard positions but i dont see him sticking around at this point.

I can see Redick traded for a second round pick + cash. Boston would be a good fit for him.

Well the real embarassing thing will be if we have problems signing our expired guards and then decide we want to keep JJ. Love Stan but I don't know the upside of telling someone that they won't break the rotation unless you are just ticked by the media coverage trying to force your hands.

Last I checked injuries have been known to happen and players have known to walk. Now you have a player saying he will be gone soon. does nothing but drive the price downward when you are willing to deal. Otis baffles the mind.

that would be a waste. Last year you could buy a second round pick with just cash. Personally I think those who claim we have enough offense are shortsighted. Once A PF is signed then you only have two options. Experiment with Hedo at 2 guard or ship him out and if you do the latter I say this team will struggle on offense many a night.

Even worse than letting Shaq get away from the Magic will be letting JJ get away from the Magic...

He is so perfect for our offense. Bogans is an inconsistant selfish stiff who never passes the ball. Whatever. What happens happens.
