HERE is the Boston Globe article that THIS article was getting info from.
Read it, read it, listen to KG himself.

KG basically vetoed the trade to GS. KG had the ability to opt out of his deal after one year, he also had a huge $10 Mil trade kicker that had to be waived before any trade can be made. He basically had a no trade clause.
KG wasn't convinced that what was left after a trade + KG was a title contender.
So we went in another direction.
End of Story.

Yeah, like I said, KG's hesitancy to extend his contract with a stripped-down GS was effectively an enforced no-trade clause that stopped the deal dead, even if Mullin doesn't get cold feet.
In the Boston-version article, looks like Belinelli would have gone and not Wright (still have to assume that would be enough for Minny, even without Horford?). So: Baron/Azubuike/Jackson/Wright/KG... that's still a pretty damn good roster, no?
Another thing that makes sense with the "no-trade" scenario is does Minny really like Jefferson THAT much, that they would pass up Biedrins AND Ellis and some other stuff? I'd think not.
Seeing the post-mortem though gives more credence to Khoee's "book it... " just can't book anything until all the T's are crossed and I's dotted.
edit: I forget the exact details, but KG was not allowed to simply waive a $10 mil trade kicker.
