Contenders?

Post#1 » by drgonzo510 » Sat Mar 8, 2008 6:46 am

So with the emergence of Brandan Wright, once C-Webb and Beanz are fully healthy, we have three true big men and one flex in Big Al, making our frontcourt four quality bigs deep. What was once the weakest part of the Warriors team is now, because of Wright, a very difficult matchup for most teams. We don't have a Duncan or a Gasol, but the sum of all parts combined with what is, in my humble opinion, the best backcourt in the NBA, I think is going to be a handful for anyone in the playoffs. We are also getting MAD love in power rankings, falling inside the top-10 in these two:

But no one is talking about the Golden State Gun Show as serious contenders. My question is, why not? We've got experience now, no one seems to remember that we were really 3 or 4 free throws away from taking Utah last year. Now, I'm very, very, very biased, I love the Warriors above all sports teams, but I see as much talent on this roster as any team in the league. Baron is a dominant, top-5 talent, Stack Jack is pure badassery, and Monta is "the shiniest toy in the toy box" (Buck Showalter on Erubiel Durazo as a prospect). I don't want to jinx and I don't want to predict, but I believe the Warriors have the talent to contend for the TITLE this year. With that said, I don't know if I believe that anyone but the Spurs or the Lakers will make the Western Conference Championship because they get EVERY SINGLE WHISTLE in their favor on their home court, and as the 1 and 2 seeds, should walk. Who in the NBA couldn't score 50 if they shot 27 free throws (I'm so impressed, Kobe :noway: )? Sorry this is so long, it's my first post here, and I have a lot of opinions I've been sitting on all season. Let me know how you feel really about our chances this year, despite the rugged competition in the West.

Contenders or Lotto ball watchers?

That's a pretty big range. Its' hard to say with GS, I didn't expect them to make the playoffs last year, and they went on to beat Dallas.

I don't know if they make the playoffs this year, but, if they do, who would want to play you guys? Certianly not Dallas.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

I can count the 2008 Webber neither as potentially healthy or as a quality big.

I love our young talent, but we are not serious contenders. Not in this year's Western Conference.

I'm pretty sure the Jazz would want to play us.
