Man, it was great to see that Blake and Joel were in at crunch time. And the Blazers were able to pull out a close win...coincidence?

Klinky...thank for the clean up. I'm not expecting wholesomeness but some of the language and references were getting extremely vulgar. That 2nd half was great in the chatroom.

fairly entertaining game, especially the outcome.

LMA scored well, but only 2 rebounds...ouch! Travis only had 1, but at least shot a little better and had 2 nice blocks

Joel only credited with 1 block...crappy scorekeeping there

The halftime dude just said the following: "If I see that Oden needs a MF surgery going into the draft, I don't take him in the top 20."

huh?

"Many players' careers effectively end despite the surgery. However, some players such as Jason Kidd, Steve Yzerman, John Stockton and Zach Randolph have been able to return at or near their pre-surgery form while players Brian Grant, Antonio McDyess, Chris Webber, Allan Houston and Penny Hardaway never regained their old form. Others such as Jamal Mashburn and Terrell Brandon never recovered and retired."

"In October 2005, young star Amare Stoudemire of the NBA's Phoenix Suns underwent one of the highest-profile microfracture surgeries to date. He returned to the court in March 2006 and initially appeared to have made a full recovery, but subsequently started feeling stiffness in both knees (his right knee had been overcompensating for the injured left knee). He and the team doctor decided he needed more time to rehab and he did not return until the 2006-2007 NBA season. During the 2006-2007 season, Stoudemire returned to form, averaging 20.4 points and 9.6 rebounds per game while playing in all 82 regular season games and the 2007 NBA All-Star Game."

It was definitely scary at times but it was nice to get a win. Hopefully the Blazers can take care of business on Saturday and go 4-0 this season against the T-Wolves.

Yeah, I know what micro-fracture surgery is. But still saying that he would take twenty players ahead of him is ludicrous.

It's just sour grapes from a homer Timberwolves broadcaster upset that we got Oden with the same percentage chance as they had last summer.

I'm sure Mike Rice has said something similar during one of our broadcasts.

It was an ignorant comment. The surgery itself is not the problem. It all depends on how big of a hole in the cartilage they are trying to fix. Amare had small holes, which the surgery is very likely to fix. A larger lesion is much more difficult to fix.

I had micro fracture surgery in July of 2007, with lesions very similar to Amare. I was told the success rate was around 90% for my condition. And they showed me pictures from the surgery. So if Oden had the surgery prior to the draft, each team could have reviewed pictures from his surgery and had a very good idea of the problem and the odds of a full recovery. I am back to full strength now, with just occasional pain and no swelling.

Celtic fans tried and failed to use the "LMA is Mark Blount 2" excuse as well. Anyone who's seriously watched them knows they play nothing alike. The only similarity is that they both have a good outside jumper.

I actually really like the Wolves future. Al is obviously a hell of a player, Foye shows a lot of promise, Brewer plays solid defense and with some added weight should get much better, Smith is a man and was a hell of a pick up, and on top of it all, they'll most likely have a top 5 pick this year to add. Once they get a coach and hopefully Foye becomes a good player, they will be a very good team again.. Not to mention Bassy has seemed to get it together finally. I really hope that he has turned a corner and isnt just having a good year playing on a bad team (ala Dickau in NOH)..

Theres not a chance in hell Id take their future over ours, as one fan over there said (he basically based our teams entire season on this one game), but I think they're in pretty good shape.. Should easily be the best division in the NBA in about 5 years

I'm tempted to read through their game thread, but I've done that before. I'd rather keep my sanity.

The rich man's Mark Blount comment was pretty funny. Indeed I have to agree though with what a poster over there said about how Portland is well ahead of the curve playing very under control basketball with few turnovers.

Even though the argument on their board is that Portland won't get any better and that we should possibly be alarmed that Minnesota kept the game so close despite playing so under control. I myself don't see why Portland won't get even better at that as they mature.

Of course, I was ignorant enough to argue last year and this summer on the Blazer board that Roy has just as much chance to improve as Foye. Sadly Roy hasn't improved at all from last year... oh wait...

Hey check it out our favorite "journalist" from the Wolves site is back at it again. I love how the title of the story is "Not Just Foye vs. Roy" and then most of the story is about just that.

More on Foye and Roy

As such ... again ... the comparison is unfair in the larger context of the game and the season. But the argument stems, of course, not because Foye and Roy's names rhyme, but because the Wolves selected Roy with the sixth pick in the 2006 NBA Draft before trading him to Portland for the rights to Foye and some cash. Both made the All-Rookie First Team, but Roy was the R.O.Y. largely due to his 35.3 minutes per night, compared with 22.9 for Foye. When you looked at the statistics per 48 minutes, they were pretty much a wash.

However, after the 2006-07 season - while Roy received lots of love - Foye lived in the gym (not to say that Roy didn

That guy is a riot. I love the double standards he uses. In his first article, I remember him making a big deal out of Roy's early season injury about why he put up such big stats.

One counterpoint in Roy's favor is that he played in only 57 games, so Foye's lack of additional minutes in terms of the entire season doesn't stand out as much. Still, we reiterate, isn't it more advantageous to play 35 minutes in one game than half as much in two games? We saw this clearly with Foye's production in the five games he did play big minutes.

Now in this article, Foye's early season injury is an excuse for why he hasn't been able to shine as much as Roy.

And ya gotta give him credit for still hammering away at those useless PER48 stats.
