Or if you sag towards the paint your too far away to get back to your man. Fisher is a constant victim of this. Why do our guards like to help in the paint instead of staying home with shooters that are on fire ? Especially when teams have no post presence at all.
It really defies logic. There's no way they are being instructed to do that, that's for sure. The way Alston was lighting it up, I could care less if we made him drive and get a wide open layup. (Though I'd rather just rough him up and send his ass to the line). Either way we need someone on D. A stopper.
T-Mac wasn't even around for this game. Battier made it tough for Kobe. I miss the days when it was truly T-Mac vs Kobe....Ariza, we need you back.

it is easy to domate a player when the said player has to play at both ends of the floor.dingclancy wrote:Big Kobe fan here. But he got dominated. Battier was all class.

But I doubt we stay up this high, you guys will likely take the number 1 spot, again great game, and best of luck.
Cool man, enjoy your winning streak.

two missed free throws directly caused craptacular defense? ok. by blaming lamar the way u are right now u are really REALLY selling the other guys short. i hope you don't think two missed FA's will make the lakers quit.
in other news, i went to get a drink right before that 2nd quarter. the rockets pushed the lead from there. i'll take the blame.

huh? Are you blind to the fact that both Kobe and the entire team played like crap today? Save a few bright spots and a few boneheaded moments from Lamar?
You were paritally right. Kobe was dominated, but that doesnt mean the rest of the team gets a pass.

Cheers.

I'm not covering anything, but if you want to look at one instant and say that that's where everything went wrong then I'd have to disagree with that view on life.
What about the 2 free throws that Kobe missed over the course of the game?
Or the fact we let them shoot 12-26 from the 3?
The fact that we were passing up relatively good looks to give it to DJ Mbenga?
The fact that Ronny got his 4th foul immediately in the 3rd quarter?
The play where Sasha stole it and then got blocked on a fast-break?
The 22 shots Kobe missed?
What about all of these plays? Because last time I checked they all counted. Bottom line, we are spread thin, injured, and we didn't bring it for 48 minutes today. We needed to outplay them to beat them and we simply didn't do it. That 35 points in the second quarter clinched it.
Sorry, but I'm not blaming this game on one player. This was a collective team loss for our Los Angeles Lakers.

Now I know what Chris Paul meant when he said Alston thinks hes a superstar...
Scola was all over the place picking up lucky fouls which pissed me off... Battier played amazing defense and Kobe just bent over for him...
We did a good job defending McGrady but Farmar and Fisher were horrendous on alston and jackson... whenever McGrady penetrated Fish/Farm left them WIDE **** OPEN.... And going under damn screens on Alston was pissing me off....
Oh well... lets try to get these next 2

Exactly, that unit of Mbenga,Kobe, Fish, LO and Vlad found the flow of the game. But most of all DJ is a face up shot blocker, he kept the Rockets out of the paint. Then Phil took him out and that was it.Kobay wrote:kobe didn't rest at all tonight. We were in control in the third but i guess removing Mbenga was the biggest mistake since then the defense collapsed again.

how do you respond when a player scores 24 points and you say he was "shut down".dingclancy wrote:Ok scratch that. Not dominated. But he was really out of his element. To his credit it was the first time this season I saw Kobe shut down like that. You know how he has low scoring games on easy misses. This game.. it was really difficult for him from the start.
shane played great defense on Kobe, but he didn't shut him down. I would like to have seen this game if Kobe didn't have to do as much as he did on defense. then we would really see how good Shane can be on Kobe.
