Care to elaborate on what LA can't and won't pay him more?

In the case of Maggs. He's a strong offensive player who will slash his way to the post and get his points. He's more effective that way. Which means he will draw fouls and get to the line frequently. His defense is pretty good. Maybe not like Shane Battier, but it's efficient enough. Just don't rely on Maggs to be consistant from beyond the arc. He's streaky out there at best. Also about Maggs is that he's a capable rebounder at his position like Kerry Kittles when he was with the Nets.

If that's the assessment of Corey Maggette then it's doubtful that he'd fit in Orlando. Anyone without a consistent outside shot for the $$$ that he wants doesn't sound like someone that Otis would sign considering the makeup of this team. Isn't that why Ariza was shipped out for Cook & Evans?

Brand is going to get the same or more than he makes now
Livingston is going to get more than he makes now
Powell is going to get more also
If they want to resign any more of the like 6 players expiring, they will make more.

Now take all that into consideration and remember that players get pissed if the team they are on dont give them a pay raise...ex. Gilbert wants the max in Washington and says if he doesnt get it he will play somewhere else for else...Its the principle of it

So do you think Clippers will give Maggette a raise considering what else they have to do?

Elton Brand $17,000,000
Cuttino Mobley $9,100,000
Chris Kaman $9,500,000
Corey Maggette $11,000,000 Estimate
Tim Thomas $6,466,600
Shaun Livingston $7,000,000 Thats being generous
Brevin Knight $2,000,000
Al Thornton $1,776,240

Thats at least 64 mil locked up for only 8 players

Someone will be left out...

And if corey doesnt get paid by the Clippers than he wont get paid at all

IMO ....If Magette is resigned by LA...then look for Dunleavy to leave

If Dunleavy stays then Magette is gone...

Okay, why is it that you assume that they would line up to pay all of these players, but not Maggette?

Assuming that someone is the odd man out, could you not reasonably suggest that, say, Livingston won't get paid because they have to pay Maggette, et al.

After all, Maggette is 28 year old legit two guard, dropping 22.4 ppg.

Livingston hasn't even played this season after suffering a horrific injury.

I guess I just fail to follow your rationale.

Well you have to understand the gist you get from the organization...They are in love with Livingston and will not let him go...If you dont believe me ask around

Then it just leaves Brand...Maybe if they let him go and sign someone cheaper...Then they can afford Maggette

But i dont even think Brand will opt out

Did they suggest a chance to get Elton Brand? that would be the dream. Brand and Howard, Hedo small forward, and laugh if you want, Lewis at shooting guard and anyone but Nelson to bring the ball up. I dont know if Evans could do it but there would be loads of possibilites there.

Magette would just try to move Evans , who I think is doing great.
My 2 cents is worth 5 cents.

Just not buying it.

That's great if they love Livingston -- I can see why with his skill set.

Doesn't change the fact that he may never return to original form. He wasn't exactly an iron man before either.

Go ask around? Ok?

They can afford Maggette.

I still fail to see how you chalk up all of these other expenses, then suggest that's why they can't sign Maggette.

They won't pay for Maggette 'cause they've got to give more to Josh Powell. C'mon...

We're sure lucky we had enough left in our budget to extend Dwight after we budgeted for Jameer.

Magette will get more than we can offer for the Clips, even if they only want to trade him.

Dude i didnt even include powell in the list of players under salary so what are you talking about...You obviously didnt read my last post

Those are all players under contract ALREADY excluding Brand,Maggette,Livingston

Now they can have only 8 players on the team and still be over the cap if they want to...But i highly doubt it

And whats your deal with livingston? He already make 5 mil...Do you really think hes going to make less when all signs point to him making a full recovery?

Can't the Clips trade players to reduce salary?

Granted I haven't seen a ton of Clipper games, but I don't know if he's also the physical perimeter defender that the Magic need at shooting guard. Unless Jameer grows six inches & learns how to fight over a screen (honestly it's PAINFUL to watch his P&R defense), then his backcourt mate needs to be a Shane Battier defender/shooter type... Corey certainly has the the tools to play this role, but my impression of his career thus far has not yielded those kind of results.

So trade Batte for Battier that should improve the Magic defense and yes he can score and rebound and take a charge or two a game just to make the othe team thing about getting into the paint again.

Because next year the Rockets need a backup center badly this year they could make do with what they have, but I saw that the Rockets are interested in a center who can block shots get rebounds points are not a big thing and Batte will be ready for next year.

My LAST post where i listed the players that are under contract next year...ITS NOT HARD TO UNDERSTAND

Hec yeah that could possibly be an option...But i would think that if that was the plan, they would have done it this year

Its kinda hard to clear salary in july

Also they dont really have an assets to trade aside from Kaman
