In the case of Maggs. He's a strong offensive player who will slash his way to the post and get his points. He's more effective that way. Which means he will draw fouls and get to the line frequently. His defense is pretty good. Maybe not like Shane Battier, but it's efficient enough. Just don't rely on Maggs to be consistant from beyond the arc. He's streaky out there at best. Also about Maggs is that he's a capable rebounder at his position like Kerry Kittles when he was with the Nets.

If that's the assessment of Corey Maggette then it's doubtful that he'd fit in Orlando. Anyone without a consistent outside shot for the $$$ that he wants doesn't sound like someone that Otis would sign considering the makeup of this team. Isn't that why Ariza was shipped out for Cook & Evans?

Okay, why is it that you assume that they would line up to pay all of these players, but not Maggette?

Assuming that someone is the odd man out, could you not reasonably suggest that, say, Livingston won't get paid because they have to pay Maggette, et al.

After all, Maggette is 28 year old legit two guard, dropping 22.4 ppg.

Livingston hasn't even played this season after suffering a horrific injury.

Did they suggest a chance to get Elton Brand? that would be the dream. Brand and Howard, Hedo small forward, and laugh if you want, Lewis at shooting guard and anyone but Nelson to bring the ball up. I dont know if Evans could do it but there would be loads of possibilites there.

I understand the appeal of Maggette as an individual player, however, I've always gotten the impression that he's a guy that needs the ball in his hands to be effective. Granted I haven't seen a ton of Clipper games, but I don't know if he's also the physical perimeter defender that the Magic need at shooting guard. Unless Jameer grows six inches & learns how to fight over a screen (honestly it's PAINFUL to watch his P&R defense), then his backcourt mate needs to be a Shane Battier defender/shooter type... Corey certainly has the the tools to play this role, but my impression of his career thus far has not yielded those kind of results.

So trade Batte for Battier that should improve the Magic defense and yes he can score and rebound and take a charge or two a game just to make the othe team thing about getting into the paint again.

Because next year the Rockets need a backup center badly this year they could make do with what they have, but I saw that the Rockets are interested in a center who can block shots get rebounds points are not a big thing and Batte will be ready for next year.
