Correct. I would imagine we'd need sweetener from LA in the form of Jardan Farmar (which would be somewhat ironic, considering they used our pick to take him in completion of the Shaq trade, and we'd be dealing Marion, the key part to our Shaq trade, to LA).

SM>LO

i doubt we could get both on the team at the same time, though it would be matchup nightmare for other teams

As a Laker fan, I might trade Odom for Marion..IF they made the same amount of money, but with Marion at $17mil and Odom at $14, there is no way the Lakers do that. I like Odom and the fact that he can play SF & PF is a huge plus, so how about we just keep him..(?)

If their salaries matched, the Lakers would still have to throw something in.

Marion >>>> Odom

Pat Riley loves big men - just look at his history. He'll try for Elton Brand first and then Curry.

would you guys trade marion for LO straight up?
If Marion ask for $17m per year and Odom for $10m, I think its worth doing the trade.

While Marion maybe the better player but the difference is not $5m per year.

If their salaries matched, the Lakers would still have to throw something in.
The least is Mihm and the most is the LAL will give is Ariza.

Odom will be a free agent the same time Marion is. We can afford to sign Odom. They can't afford to sign Marion. They need to sweeten the deal if they want him...

Even if LAL likes Marion, I doubt they'll trade for him given the contract difference between him and Odom, much more if they're giving away something of a sweetener.
