Ira said that was first hand information, so he got it from Billy, Riley, or someone close

Ya know, this may be the best quote I've seen here on Realgm.

Lane, someone mentioned your blog. Can you PM me with it's URL?

Also, I've also heard that BOTH Zo and Shaq went to Riley asking him to take over. Was Zo trying to be the peacekeeper once again? That seems like the likely explanation. Does anyone know for sure?

But what about Riley's comments when these rumors started that he wanted to take over?

Remember his response when he first spoke?

That's a loaded question.

He did NOTHING to dismiss the rumors that he wanted to take over when he first commented about them.

And didn't Gary Payton also criticize him at the beginning of the season?

I believe it was Riley's fault to go public with his "more involved" comments and then did very little to dismiss that he had the coaching itch again. Because of who he is, this made it easy for the players to disrespect SVG knowing who was next in line. I don't believe Riley forced his way but he DID make the atmosphere very difficult for SVG to deal with his players with large ego's...namely Shaq and Payton.

I nver liked Shaq prior to him coming to the Heat, but I grew to like him because of his personality. I never appreciated the fact that he seemed to coast during the season hoping to turn in on in the playoffs, and did not appreciate his inability to stay in shape and make free throws. What happened here is a replica of what has happened to Shaq everywhere he has been. He is motivated for a year or two, then becomes more trouble than he is worth because of him ego and lack of work ethic. I wish him good luck, and I thank him for what he did for the Heat, but I am very happy that he is gone. I feel bad for Stan because I thought he was a hell of a coach and loved what he did with the team that we had prior to Shaq getting here. its a shame that Shaq cost us Stan. I think we sold our soul to the devil for a championship in getting shaq, and are now paying the price.

The same wandering persona is true in his marriage. Hopefully he's smart enough not to do that again though.
