My concern for the playoffs is Kobe's lack of quickness lately. He's not looking very quick at all. More of a jump shooter

Still he played a great all around game and made the necessary passes out of double teams.

This post seems funny after seeing how you tried to trash him on the GB board. Typical BS.

Sorry to sound so negative but I see no true killer instinct or maturity in this team. Not yet.

agree. That is why I think that these types of wins that are big games down the stretch... it could help them build that confidence and maturity.

ariza was turning a lot of those open threes into dives at the basket too. people forget about that too often and focus on his d. IIRC, people were questioning how it was possible that ariza looked more comfortable in the offense in two weeks than odom in 3 years.

Ariza moves without the ball and he's quick, athletic and runs the fastbreak. That alone makes him such a good option alongside Kobe and LO.

He looked pretty quick on that reverse dunk though didn't he?

Hops and quickness off the dribble are not the same

He is no where near as quck off the dribble as 2001 and 2002/2003 Kobe

Its not even close

I still think Kobe deserves the MVP and he did a great job leading this team to a great season.

This seems possible as long as Dallas has something to play for, when they play against the Hornets. It's a long shot, but we'll see.

Wait.. are you trying to tell us that a 29 year old 6'6" basketball player with various knee problems isnt as quick as he was as a 22-year young player without the knee complications?

a little upset about the comeback, but a win is a win. i like the fact that we didn't fold after the hornets made their run. we kept our cool, and stuck to the gameplan. to many three's,but we should be able to correct that. great game from kobe. seemd hype for this one. made big plays in the fourth. to say this guy has been in the league for 12 years, played in the summer games, has a messed up pinkie the things he does are amazing. still has quickness, hops(dunk in the fourth). like odom's rebounding. we need to tighten up the defense, and say off the three point line and we should be fine.

How did i trash him on the main boards? I said before the 4th quarter who's gonna step up. Kobe or Paul and Kobe stepped up. Just because im a Laker fan im not gonna give it to a Laker likes it's some charity. This isnt a charity, you got to earn it. Kobe earned the MVP

But, you shouldnt have to catch and hold with SLOW Peja guarding you. There is no reason to catch and hold.

He should blow by Peja with ease. The double team was coming after Koe held the ball for to long. Just catch and attack

He finally did that in the last couple of minutes and got to the free throw line.

Well Miles, my only respose to that is 7 TO's in the 3rd Q and 36 3 pt shots attempted. We did everything we could to piss this game away.

I agree, we made some bad decisions on offense. We need to clean it up. As a team we don't have the killer instinct or maturity, but we have key players who do.

In years past, we would have folded when the Hornets made their furious comeback. But we took their punch, turned the tide, changed the momentum, and closed the game out. I think that's worth something.

We certainly have things we need to work on, but I'm encouraged by the fact that we were able to pull it out. Considering losses to Memphis and the Bobcats, I ain't complaining.

Yes i am and that's why it was a concern.

In my post i complimented Kobe and said he should be MVP,but had concerns about quickness.

So the whole post should be positive? My Bad

lol dude.

New Orleans had the last huge momentum shift go in their favor.

They cut down a 30pt lead to 1.

Why would you attack early in the shot clock and give New Orleans more time to eliminate the small lead LA had?

BTW, Bryant drawing the double team freed up the perimeter shots for Fish and the likes, which ended up proving to be huge daggers in the heart of NO considering they were draining quite a few threes of their own.

Im not saying that. THats you putting words in poster's mouths.. again.

Im simply saying its common sense to expect a human being to lose quickness from point A (22 years of age) to point B (29 years of age), especially when you consider Bryant's circumstances.

It happens to everyone.

Kobe's nothing but a good scorer.

I love how he brought that back out in the General Board's NBA thread. Right as Kobe had had about 15, 5, 4, at the half, btw.

I remember he was saying that a while back and then shut up for a while.. Hopefully now he's quiet about it again.

so if bscott is saying kobe isn't as quick as he used to be (getting older, surgery after surger) then why is anyone arguing with him? I thought was bscott said was quite clear.

Are we really having this conversation after Kobe just led us to victory tonight?

No, Kobe's not as athletic as he was when he was 19 years old. He also has less hair. So? You also want to know a few more differences?

He also has 10+ years experience. He also has far more maturity. He's also playing a floor game that is superior to any previous year - in Phil's own admission. He's never been a better teammate, he's never been a better leader, and he's never been a better player.

If athleticism was all there is to a player, Harold Miner would be in the Hall of Fame.

Yeah, Jordan in his 30s was less athletic than his 20-year-old self. Was he any less of a player, wasn't he still the best player in the league?
