He sucked ass in the Miranda/Aurthur fight, last years Gatti fight, and tonight.

What's more is that if it were up to him, the fight would've kept going. The ringside doctor called for the bell.

I don't like Joe... I don't like his style but I want to see how he faces with perhaps the smartest fighter in the game with Hopkins. He has an unbelieveable high boxing IQ, but in order for him to win he will have to let his hands go and I just don't think he can do that. He has lost fights due to his inactivity.

I don't deny Hopkins's boxing IQ or abilities, but I hate how he comes off as a racist.

Cotto/Margarito will be ridiculously good.

I cant wait for that fight.

Cotto and Margarito looked incredible tonight. Cotto looked faster than I thought he was and that was the most impressing thing tonight. Margarito just ran circles around Cintron and Cintron showed just how raw he is. Poor footwork, bad defense and just overally unpolished as a fighter.

Dawson/Johnson was a great fight. Was a good decision. Dawson edged that one out. Should have been closer on the scorecards though. 116-112 is a little wide.

Well Cintron isn't really a boxer by trade... as much as HBO pushed him to be a legit boxer. He just fell back on it after highschool wrestling. I think if there was ever a boxer that can go into MMA it would be Cintron.

Joe should win his fight vs Old Man Poppy...

Honestly if Hopkins wins my respect level for him will go thru the roof.

Yeah exactly. Him and Oneil Bell.

Also, Cintron was able to make a career in boxing despite the late start because of his athleticism and his Uncle who was a former professional boxer.

I think Miranda can also be in the discussion just due to his raw power that he brings to the table.

Okay Everybody,

Predictions for the Calzaghe/Hopkins fight.

I am honestly torn. My heart says Calzaghe, my brain says Hopkins.

This fight is real tough to call because we dont really know how good the fighters Calzaghe fought were. B-Hop has faced the best in the sport.

Im going B-Hop by decision. But I want Calzaghe to win.

I am going to say Calzaghe UD...

There is one thing that Joe does perhaps as good as anyone in boxing today and it is to impose his will on the fight. He is going to be a cocky SOB who punches in bunches.

I have massive respect for Hopkins but logic tells me that father time will catch up with him. He can't get away with throwing 30 punches a round. In order for him to win he will have to fight a much differernt fight than what we have seen from him. The last fighers that have fought with him have always let him dictate the pace. I would be in total and utter shock if Hopkins can dictate the pace of the fight.

True,

Its going to be close fight either way in my opinion.

But the thing is I dont know how good Calzaghes competition is. Will he even be able to throw 100 punches a round against B-Hop?

Kesslers a solid fighter but I just dont think hes anywhere near as good as guys B-Hop has faced. Kessler is a fairly simple fighter. He doesnt punch from alot of angles, just punches in straight lines and he doesnt have a variety of punches. He seems a little stiff to me.

I'll take Calzaghe by split.

Both fighters are impressive to me. Ring Magazine loves both, but I just can't support a guy like Hopkins. I will say this fight will only be as good as Hopkins is.

Saw the replay again of Vasquez-Marquez...I could never get tired of it. It's like watching a 1st round 12 times. They just kept going at each other. So many things could've changed the outcome of that fight. Marquez's deduction for the low blow in the 10th...Vasquez getting the KD with less than :10 to go in the 12th...

And watching the post-match interview...Marquez brothers need a lesson in sportsmanship.

Calzaghe will start off fast while Hopkins adjusts to his style, and by the middle of the fight Bernard will have him figured out and start to impose his will, potshotting and countering and slowing the Welshman down.

I'm picking the upset: Hopkins SD over Calzaghe.

We're just not supposed to get ahead of ourselves thinking Alberto Gomez will go beating down Miguel Cotto.

Anderson Silva Still Calling For Roy Jones Jr.
Recommend this page Printable version Search BoxingScene Database

By Mark Vester

It appears that UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva is not ready to walk away. He still wants a boxing match with former four-division champion Roy Jones Jr. Several weeks ago, Silva called out Jones to a boxing match. Jones quickly accepted, but UFC president Dana White was only willing to let them fight under mixed-martial-arts rules, which Jones is not willing to do.

In a recent interview with MMA website Sherdog, Silva said he was confident that a fight with Jones would come together for 2009.

"I'm still confident this fight will happen," Silva said. "This can be this year or in 2009. I respect Dana White, the UFC owners and their point of view, but my vision is that I want this boxing match."

Silva said the fight "has to happen" and appears to want it badly. He feels the fight will be good for MMA and boxing, and seems to be a bit taken back that White will not allow the fight to come through.

"I have a contract with UFC; I respect them, I respect Dana White and I don't have anything to complain about the promotion -- they always treated me nicely," said Silva. "But this is my huge personal wish, a pro boxing fight against Roy Jones, who I consider the top boxer. I'm his fan as well. I'd like this fight to happen and I'll do everything possible to make it happen. Roy Jones stated his will to fight as well. He has an exceptional character, and we want this fight. This would be good for both sports - MMA and boxing. This would be historical! This has to happen! I can't believe that the people responsible to make it happen don't see that. They can't let the fans be without this match, which can mark the story of the fight sport."

It's a tale of former champions in need of a big win in order to remain in the cruiserweight mix as O'Neil Bell returns from a 13-month layoff to take on Tomasz Adamek in Katowice, Poland

Wow... this is going to be an awesome fight for hardcore fight fans. Adamek is going up in weight. He used to be the light heavyweight champ before Dawson unsat him. I think it is massive jump 175 to 200. It will be an action fight that will be on ESPN classic but it is during my Spurs game. :(

I am guessing that Adamek will get the UD. Age will catch up with Bell.

Why 2009? Why not wait until 2020 so Silva can actually have a mediocre chance to beat RJJ? :D

OMG halslappy is a giant ass for doing that g@y taunt on hopkins. He "lowblowed" hopkins and hopkins turned around so Joe fake-humped him to taunt him.

......disturbing.
